The search for impact arms never ceases in the recruiting world. The summer is past the midway point, and many players have vaulted forward as prospects on the rise. In this installment of, On the Hunt, seven pitchers take centerstage as future weekend starters at the next level. Some are equipped with quick arms and high ceilings while others show feel for how to pitch, and control multiple pitches. Each will have a chance to pitch at the next level, and given the right situation, may have a chance to excel. States represented are Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, New York, and Ohio.

Michael Doolin SS / RHP / Andrean, IN / 2019

Doolin might be the most closely followed prospect at next month’s Future Games where he will toe the rubber for Indiana, and also show off his athleticism in the infield, and physical left-handed bat. Doolin’s quick hands show strength at the plate, and while he will likely grow into more of a corner infielder, he currently is more than adequate at shortstop showing clean hands and athleticism. On the mound, Doolin stands out as one of the top right-handers in the 2019 class. He sat mostly 86-87 (89) throughout the high school season, and recent reports have had him touching 90 mph. While the velocity is advanced for his age, Doolin is even more impressive with his polish and command of his fastball. Spotting up from corner to corner, Doolin shows little effort in his delivery, and there is surely much more velocity to come in the future. His slider (75-76) flashes being a plus pitch, and is late-breaking while receiving many swings and misses. Overall, Doolin is an elite prospect who will have his choice at a number of schools after the Future Games.
