With the 2017 MLB Draft officially behind us, it is now time to start looking towards 2018 and beyond. Wednesday night, On the Hunt, was in attendance at the Garden State Underclass Games where nearly 100 of the top underclass players in the state of New Jersey put on a show at the beautiful confines of Diamond Nation in Flemington, New Jersey. On a perfect night for baseball, players from all over the state showed up to compete in front of over 50 college coaches. The talent level was some of the best that I have seen, and it was obvious to all in attendance that New Jersey’s 2018 & 2019 (and 2020) classes are deep with high-end talent. In an immediate reaction from the event, I take a look at some (there were over 35) of the committed players that I saw. There were many other future stars that I will not talk about in this article, but will likely be getting a lot of ink in the future.

Be on the lookout for the top uncommitted players from the event in a full feature next week with video.

Nick Decker OF / Seneca, NJ / 2018

Decker launched balls high and far, and even cleared the trees in right field on a couple swings during batting practice. Possessing a physical, 6-foot, 185-pound frame with advanced proportional strength and visibly strong forearms, Decker utilizes a strong, quick swing to impact baseballs. The Maryland commit is an athletic corner outfielder with a long, stronger arm with some carry. At the plate, he shows balance with a slight leg hang as his hands load back before showing advanced lag in the zone with power. Facing some very tough pitching, Decker had multiple good at-bats on the night.
