PBR Announces Josh Reynolds as new Colorado Scouting Director

PBR Staff

Prep Baseball Report is proud to welcome Josh Reynolds as our new Colorado Scouting Director.
A high-level talent evaluator with more than 20 years of college and professional baseball experience as a player and coach, Reynolds brings a wealth of knowledge to Prep Baseball Report.

Reynolds comes to Prep Baseball Report from Northwestern University, where he most recently served as the Wildcats’ interim head coach. Prior to being promoted to interim head coach, Reynolds served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator during his six-year stint at Northwestern.

“I couldn’t be more excited that Josh Reynolds is on our team,” said Prep Baseball Report President Sean Duncan. “Josh’s diverse resume and track record speaks for itself. He’s a winner, on and off the field, has a keen scouting eye, a tireless work ethic and, above all, has a passion for helping players in their baseball journey. Josh’s knowledge and expertise will resonate, which will ultimately benefit all the players, parents and coaches across Colorado.”

Reynolds takes over as the Colorado Scouting Director for Mike Anderson, who recently was named head coach of his alma mater, Northern Colorado University.

Prior to his work at Northwestern in the Big 10, Reynolds served as the pitching coach at Kansas State between 2011-2016, where he helped lead the Wildcats to the Big 12 championship in 2013. During his tenure at K-State, the 2013 pitching staff delivered the school’s lowest ERA (3.92) since 1977. The Wildcats also broke program records for the fewest hits allowed per nine innings, the lowest batting average against, saves and innings pitched.

Reynolds also worked as an assistant coach at Evansville for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, in addition to volunteer assistant work at K-State. He also coached at Northeast Texas Community College.

“I am excited for the opportunity to work with Prep Baseball Report as the Colorado Scouting Director," said Reynolds. “I want to thank Sean Duncan and PBR for allowing me to join the team. I know Mike Anderson has done tremendous work in the state the last three years, and I am excited to continue that passion. I look forward to expanding connections with the high school coaches, summer programs and anyone else that wants to help Colorado baseball be seen.”

Reynolds was equally successful as a player. Drafted in the third round by the New York Mets in 2000, Reynolds was a three-year ace for Division II powerhouse Central Missouri, where he broke several school records, including most career wins (34). In three seasons, Reynolds led Central Missouri to the Division II World Series twice in 1998 and 2000. Reynolds also spent time in the Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres’ organizations before turning to coaching.

Now Reynolds will bring his baseball experiences, connections and passions for scouting to Colorado’s prep baseball scene. Reynolds will work tirelessly to bring to you the most comprehensive high school baseball information Colorado has ever seen, and provide scouting coverage to all corners of the state. But he can’t do it alone. Please email him at [email protected] with college commitments, relevant news, and top players in your area.
