PBR Staff

Prep Baseball Report is proud to welcome Sammy Esposito as our new South Carolina Scouting Director. With 16 years experience as a Division 1 coach, including 10 at the University of South Carolina, Esposito’s baseball roots run deep across the Palmetto State.

A high-level talent evaluator and communicator, Esposito brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for South Carolina baseball to Prep Baseball Report.

Esposito was part of the Gamecocks’ back-to-back national championships and a runner-up finish between 2010-2012.

“Sammy won two national championships at South Carolina, so he knows what it takes to win in South Carolina,” said Prep Baseball Report President Sean Duncan. “I have zero doubt that Sammy will win again in the state. Sammy is a hustler and a winner. I couldn’t be more pumped to have Sammy part of our team.”

Esposito comes to Prep Baseball Report from the University of Houston, where he served as an assistant coach for two years. Prior to his stint in Houston, Esposito worked as the recruiting coordinator at Wichita State between 2017-2019.

Prior to Wichita State, Esposito spent a decade in Columbia, SC - the first five years as the volunteer assistant coach, the last five as the recruiting coordinator for the Gamecocks. In his tenure, South Carolina enjoyed an unprecedented run of playing in three-straight national championship series, winning two.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to come back to South Carolina and join Prep Baseball Report,” Esposito said. I look forward to getting out and scouting the excellent talent in South Carolina and connecting with some of the best baseball coaches and scouts around. My family and I can not be more excited to come back and help grow the coverage of the great talent this state has to offer.”

Esposito also worked as the volunteer assistant at Georgia Southern between 2005-2007. The son of legendary NC State head coach Sam Esposito, who compiled a 512-253-4 record during his 20-year tenure there, Esposito played collegiately at NC State between 1999-2002, serving as co-captain his final two years.

Now Esposito will bring his baseball experiences, connections and passions for scouting to South Carolina’s prep baseball scene. Esposito will work tirelessly to bring to you the most comprehensive high school baseball information South Carolina has ever seen, and provide scouting coverage to all corners of the state. But he can’t do it alone. Please email him at [email protected] with college commitments, relevant news, and top players in your area.
