Part I 2019 Rankings Release: Uncommitted

The vast majority of the players in the PBR 2019 Rankings have made their college decision, but there are still some intriguing, very talented players that recruiters will want to take notice of. These players have patiently navigated their way through the recruiting process, and do not seem to be in a rush to choose a university to attend in the future. Nor should they feel the need to be so. Signing day is not for another year for the talented 2019 class, and recruiters are still fervently searching for additions to their classes. This week, On the Hunt, features players from Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ontario, and Texas with pitchers, outfielders, and a catcher checking in.

Keegan Pulford-Thorpe LHP / OF / Newmarket , ON / 2019

Pulford-Thorpe was sneakily one of my favorite pitchers from the Future Games where he sat 82-83 with his fastball on a rare, cold and windy August day in Indiana. Those numbers were deceiving, however, because of the wind blowing in his face, and there is very likely much more in the tank (he has since been up to 86mph). The long 6-foot-4, 185-pound left-hander features broad shoulders, and looks like he may reach out and touch the catcher’s mitt from the mound when he releases the ball. He shows command of his fastball which exhibits late, significant, arm side life, and he peppers the bottom of the zone with the pitch. Delivering out of a near ¾ slot, Pulford-Thorpe has a chance to be wicked on left-handed hitters, especially with his sweeping, 2/8 curveball at 70-71. He also shows some feel for a changeup at 75-77. Overall, I see Pulford-Thorpe making a big jump in the near future, and with his clean, loose arm, and athletic frame, recruiters are going to want to get up north to see a potential weekend starter.
