Prep Baseball Report Announces Dates and Updated Format for Junior Future Games

As you may have experienced in past years, the Junior Future Games has evolved into the most prestigious youth baseball event of the summer. Run concurrently with the Prep Baseball Report Future Games, which had 250 college coaches from coast-to-coast scouting the high school-aged prospects, the Junior Future Games’ new-and-improved format is raising the bar to another level.

Now, we are streamlining the high-level competition to focus solely on 12U, 13U and 14U players, all the while threading state-specific teams through a workout day, run by the state’s PBR Scouting Director, before breaking into game-play against other states.

The Junior Future Games will once again be held at Grand Park’s state-of-the-art 26-field all-turf facility located in Westfield, IN on August 2-5 (Thursday-Sunday).

This one-of-a-kind opportunity puts athletes in a high-level  baseball atmosphere where they will compete for regional and state pride against players across the country. All players will be hand-selected and invited by the PBR scouting staff to attend the weekend festivities in conjunction with the PBR Future Games. All teams at all levels will be coached by a PBR state representative.  By having PBR staff members as coaches, we have removed any preconceived bias toward any player or playing time for the weekend. Last year, many of the college coaches scouting the Future Games came over to the youth side to watch and address their state teams.

Updated Format:

Here’s how it will work: The 12U, 13U and 14U age groups from their respective state will all participate in a state-specific workout together to begin the Junior Future Games on Thursday. The state workout will be run by the PBR state scouting director, and all players will be videoed and have their measurables taken. The workout will consist of a 60-yard dash, as well as on-field batting practice, and a positional workout at their primary position. By combining the age groups, the younger athletes will get a greater feel for the talent in the state, and where they should strive to be in the upcoming years. All of the athletes will get to share the same stage, and spend time with their state director, his staff and guest speakers. Furthermore, all players will have a profile created on the Prep Baseball Report website, which will include the video, statistics and profile picture.

All teams will play four games throughout the rest of the weekend to showcase their talents, with their respective age group against other states.

All players will be hand selected by our state director, and roster spots are extremely limited. Detailed format for the Junior Future Games and tryouts can be found HERE.

Why attend the Junior Future Games?:

Each player participating in the event will receive a Prep Baseball Report profile with verified stats and video from the showcase and games throughout the weekend.  PBR will have its staff following each game, posting game recaps and reviews of players, as well as guest speakers throughout the weekend. More than 800 colleges and pro scouts subscribe to view PBR player profiles. Athletes will also receive an Adidas uniform top and hat.

The Junior Future Games will coincide with the Prep Baseball Report Future Games, which attracted more than 250 college coaches last year. That included coaches from 130 Division I programs and representatives from 15 MLB organizations, to view the action.
