Pursinger To Dayton A 'Stroke Of Luck'

Eddie Pursinger 3B / RHP / Anderson, OH / 2016

DAYTON - Early this season Eddie Pursinger feared the worst - his days of playing baseball could be coming to an end.

The 2016 Cincinnati Anderson graduate was a non-starter in his final year at Sinclair Community College. Prospects of finding an opportunity to continue his baseball dream were admittedly bleak.

“It was tough, especially since I consider myself a rhythm hitter,” Pursinger said of the few chances to show what he could do. “I need ABs to get in the swing of things and I wasn’t getting a ton at the beginning of the season. A lot of games were cancelled and I was getting starved in at-bats.

“They said you can be an every-day guy, just in a limited role. Once more games are played there would be more possibilities. I still considered myself the best we have defensively at first base and that made me hungry. But it definitely seemed to be my last season.”
