Scout Blog: #10 Cherokee vs Calhoun

Hudson Graham
Georgia Scouting Director

2023, OF, Caiden Townsend, Cherokee
6-foot-1 165-pounds. Townsend had the most impressive night at the plate. The speedy lefty has been swinging the bat well this season. He faced 2 of the top sophomores arms in the state, and had 2 doubles with 4 RBI’s. His approach is simple, he has an athletic stance with really quick hands. He showed the ability to take the ball to the opposite field, and the ability to turn on an inside pitch. He is a base hit threat at any time when he puts the ball in play with his speed. He has great instincts on the bases, and is not afraid to take a bag when the pitchers are slow to the plate. He just missed a web gem line drive diving catch in the outfield. The athleticism shows in all parts of his game. He is the type of player that can spark a rally at anytime. Townsend is one of the top uncommitted players in the state, and will be a great addition to any team at the next level.
