On Saturday evening, R&D Baseball hosted a Pro Day for a few of its Post-Grad Free Agents as well as 10 of its High School players. Of the high schoolers, eight are 2022s and two are 2023s, with two of the 2022s still being uncommitted as we approach the High School Season.

One note, while we will report the velocities that pitchers threw on Saturday, it is still the first week of February and most of them weren't quite dialed up to where they will be in the back half of the high school season three months from now.

Here are detailed videos and notes on the players who took part in Saturday's Pro Day:

***Players are in alphabetical order***

Uncommitted 2022s:

Evan Fontaine RHP / McLean, VA / 2022

Fontaine is uncommitted and is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame that has some projection left to it. Smooth, easy delivery, some drop and drive before, body works to target before an open landing and an athletic finish. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed creating some deception. Long loose arm action from a low three-quarters arm slot, easier effort to his delivery. Fastball was 86-87 with late armside run to it, was around the zone at all times with the pitch. Curveball had good armspeed and sharp 11/5 to downer break to it. Pitch was 69-72 with 2200-2350 rpm on it, showed ability to throw for strikes or out of the zone as a chase pitch. Changeup was 76-78 with good armspeed and some hard late fade to it, also showed feel and ability to throw for strikes. Confident thrower of all three pitches and showed control of his whole arsenal.

Josh Hand OF / SS / Independence, VA / 2022

Hand is uncommitted and is 6-1 with a strong athletic frame. Has straight-line speed and is athletic and moved well taking ground balls and crow hopping to throw. Arm has strength, touching 90 on his throws. Simple swing with an easy set-up, strides on line, smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips explode violently and rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance throughout his swing. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball with strength at contact and extension through the ball. Slightly uphill swing path, shows a pull preference with real power and loft in his swing that way, shows extra base power to all fields.
