Senior Winter Standouts

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

There have been several preseason events held in the last few weeks and many players stood out in advance of their high school seasons starting. We’ll take the next few weeks to look at some of those players. First up, we have winter standouts from the senior class.

Franco Aleman, RHP, Alonso HS, FL
At 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, Aleman is long and projectable with strength in his lower half. He arguably made the biggest splash at the Florida Preseason All-State event, boosting his stock for the 2018 MLB Draft. It’s easy to dream on the frame, but the arm works freely and easily as well. There is some length in the back, but he gets down the mound well and on top of the baseball, creating plane on a fastball that sits 90-92 mph, touching 93. The curveball shows upside, with depth and tight spin at 74-76 when he stays on top of it. He also has feel for a changeup at 78-79. He is committed to Florida International.
