'Sky's The Limit' For Big Left-Handed Pitcher Bachman

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Drew Bachman has big plans when it comes to the next few months of his life.

“My goal is to win a state championship and I think we have a good chance,” the Lakota East junior said. “Come summer, I hope to take some visits, get some offers and then it will come down to making a decision.”

Forming a solid one-two punch with Ohio State commit Nate Haberthier, Bachman is certainly a strong presence on the mound at East.

“The sky’s the limit for him,” said Jordan Chiero, PBR Ohio Director of Scouting. “Six-foot-five left-handed pitchers with an upper 80s fastball don't grow on trees.”

Added weight has the top-ranked uncommitted junior in Ohio on the radar of colleges.

“I’ve had a couple coaches reach out,” noted the 205-pounder, who has visited Wright State and is planning an upcoming trip to Purdue. “Hopefully, I’ll see more schools in the spring.”

The 11th-rated 2021 in the state is making strides in his drive to pitch at the next level.

“I’ve been throwing more, practicing with my pitching coach and have a better feel for the ball,” Bachman related. “I’ve come a long way since my freshman year. My off-speed was non-existent back then.”

It was just prior that pitching in college became realistic to Bachman.
