TX Limited Series: Super 17 Standouts

With the dust settled from PBR Texas’ Limited Series in Houston, On the Hunt takes a look at the “Super 17” uncommitted 2020 standouts from the state of Texas (plus a bonus player from Louisiana). The talent level is always high in the Lone Star State, and the four games that each team played at the University of Houston allowed for many players to leave their mark on college recruiters as well as the PBR staff. Of the players listed, multiple pitchers were up to 90 mph alongside some of the more physical bats in the state as well as impressive athletes with smooth actions on both offense and defense.

Cameron Bye RHP / Trinity, TX / 2020Rankings StateRank: 54 / POS: 16
Bye came out humming fastballs at 88-90, hitting 91 mph on several occasions. Barrel-chested with broad shoulders, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound right hander has a durable frame and looks like he may throw even harder in the near future. Working exclusively out of the stretch, Bye strides slightly open down the mound before delivering out of a higher ¾ slot. He gets stronger drive off his backside while working a short, quick arm swing that allows the ball to jump on hitters. The fastball appeared to pick up speed as it crossed the plate. His breaking ball continued to get better throughout the outing, and had tight spin, with some multi-tier break and 11/5 shape at 69-73. He throws the pitch with intent, and while the overall feel to his outing made his stuff seem raw, he certainly has a powerful arm to work with moving forward.
