TEXAS SCOUT BLOG

The Texas Scouting Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from the PBR Staff during the season. This running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects, and anything else that is notable. We will provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, home to first times, and more.

This edition will include prospects that our staff saw during weeks 6 & 7 of the HS season.

MARCOS PAZRHP / HEBRON, TX / 2025

Paz got the start against FM Marcus on Friday, and continues to show top of the rotation stuff. The sophomore was 91-93 in the 1st and settled in at 89-92 for the remainder of the night. He continues to have great mound presence and keeps an even pulse throughout the game.  His fastball is at its best when he sinks it at the bottom of the zone.  He is tough to square up and elevate when he is down.  He elevated a few fastballs as well to change eye levels as well. His slider has taken a jump since last spring.  He threw his slider in the upper 70’s and it showed quality depth and generated multiple swing and misses.  He still has the changeup, which is one of the better ones around. He threw it at 80-81 with the same arm speed as his fastball and it comes out of the same slot.
