Team USA Wins First Game Over Miami-Dade 5-2

The USA 18u National team is in South Florida for a week in preparation for the Pan-American games. Team USA took on traditional junior college power Miami Dade College in their first of seven scrimmages before heading to Panama.

USA showed would go through a practice pre-game and would take ground ball and batting practice. A few guys really stood out on this particular day. CJ Abrams is a long, lanky infielder who uses his long limbs to create leverage and surprising power with a lot of upside. Ethan Hearn is a strong bodied left-handed hitter with a feel to hit and some present strength. Riley Greene and Tyler Callihan continued to show why they are a pair of the top bats in the country with above average hit and power combo. This would continue to translate to the game  for Greene, as it has consistently for as long as we have seen Greene, with him going 3-for-4 with the go ahead three RBI triple.

A trio of 2020s may have shown the biggest potential in batting practice though. Dylan Crews, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Yohandy Morales all have big offensive upside.

USA would get on the board first thanks to a two out, bunt single from Anthony Volpe. Left-hander Avery Short would get the start, going four innings, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out five. Short showed..
