The Hotlist: Sophomore Winter Standouts

Continuing our look at recent standouts, we now shift to the 2019 class. Listed alphabetically below are some sophomores that stood out at winter events.

Sam Beuerlein, RHP/C, Park Hill South HS, MO
Beuerlein has a strong, durable build at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds. He runs a 4.43 down the line and has pop times in the 1.95-2.15 second range. He makes accurate throws with a quick exchange and release. He hits from a balanced set-up and middle to opposite field approach. He takes a level path through the zone, producing an exit velocity of 90 mph. On the mound, he keeps his body under control and maintains inline direction toward the plate. His fastball works at 83-86 and his breaking ball has 10/4 shape at 73-75. The changeup is 74-76.
