DFW, TX - We had the chance to see three games yesterday in the metroplex. Here is what we saw.

Flower Mound vs. Denton Guyer

The Wildcats came out swinging, putting up a run in the first inning with a leadoff single from Kellen Landstad, followed by a sacrifice bunt, and an RBI single from 1B Jordan Beminio.

The Jaguars answered with a run in the bottom half thanks to a leadoff single from 2020 SS Will Miller, a sacrifice bunt, and an RBI Single from 1B Matt Marlow.

Flower Mound put up a three spot in the second when 2019 CF Cole Antonelli singled in two runs, and 2021 3B Austin Russell hit an RBI double to center. Jags up 4-1.

Guyer cut the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth when Chad Aune and Crabtree both drove in runs.

After that it was all Flower Mound, as they added two runs in the bottom of the fourth with a 2 RBI single from Cam Brown (TCU). The Jags added three more in the fifth with RBI hits from Chris Ballow and 2020 SS Will Miller. After they added two more runs in the top of seventh the game would end with a final score of Flower Mound 12, Guyer 3.

These two teams will meet again tomorrow for game two at Allen 4:00 pm (Weather Permitting)

Jesuit vs. Sachse

We have seen Jesuit multiple times this season and Sachse early during the tournament season. Sachse has a solid club, as mentioned in our NTX Scout Blog. They are athletic with guys that can run and hit for power up and down the order. 2020 SS Mark Anzaldua is an active player in the middle of the field to go along with 2019 2B Cameron Cromer (ACU commit) and his twin brother 2019 3B Chase Cromer (NCTC commit). 2019 1B Robert Hines (Tyler JC commit) is a force in the middle of the order, to go along with 2019 OF Trent Dean (Paris JC commit), and 2019 C Dylan Debuty (Greyson JC commit). Speedy outfielders 2020 Drake Herrera is a left handed hitter along with 2019 Tye Fairleyand these guys can cover ground. 2019 RHP Chase Alford (Paris JC commit) pitched with precision, earning the win with 6 innings, allowing only one earned run on 4 hits, 0 BB, and tallying five strikeouts. His fastball was only 82-83 but he spun his slurve for strikes and mixed both pitches with extreme effectiveness. Worked out of a big spot in the bottom of the fifth with 1st & 3rd no out, gettting a pop up and two punchouts to end the inning.

Final Score: Sachse 3, Jesuit 1

Marcus vs. Byron Nelson

We made our way across the metroplex to catch the last four innings of this one. The game was tied 1-1 when we showed up and Marcus loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the fourth, but Byron Nelson’s 2019 RHP Ethan Thomas got out of the jam with two strikeouts and a pop up. The Marauders loaded the bases again in the fifth with one out, but reliever 2019 RHP Jaron DeBerry got a strikeout and a fly out to end the inning. Still tied up 1-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, 2021 2B Hudson White squared up a single through the left side, stole second base, then scored on what should have been the last out of the inning, but the ball got lost in the lights, allowing the go ahead run to score.

Final Score: Byron Nelson 2, Marcus 1.
