Two-Way Opportunity Entices Stanton To Toledo

MASSILLON - An opportunity to be a two-way player in college at a Division I school was too much to pass up and Spencer Stanton is heading to Toledo after a commitment to play for the Rockets.

“I really like the environment,” explained the Jackson senior, who made two visits to the UT campus. “I like the facilities and I feel that coach (Cory) Mee and coach (Nick) McIntyre and coach (Josh) Bradford have good things going there.

“They also have plans for me being a two-way. That was one of the key factors in deciding where I wanted to go. Wright State had me at first base and in the four-hole, but once I started pitching more Toledo offered me more as a two-way.”

A strong left-handed hitter, Stanton’s recent development has been on the mound.
