PENSACOLA, FL - The University of West Florida hosted their 11th annual Fall JUCO Bonanza October 4th through the 7th at Jim Spooner Field. This event brought together 12 Junior Colleges from the Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama. PBR Florida was on-hand for the entirety of the event, providing coverage. Continuing reading to view notes, reports and video on nearly 20 prospects from East Mississippi CC (MS), Coastal Alabama East (AL), Pensacola State College (FL).

East Mississippi CC


Jaxen Forrester, RHP, East Mississippi CC (MS)
6-foot-1, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, strong build. Side-step drop and drive delivery, high leg kick, works online, lands toe-open, finishes crossing-over, good rhythm throughout. Arm action is short, over-the-top slot, repeats. Fastball, some late riding life at-times, located up in the zone, got swing and misses with, 87-89, touching 90. Slider, 11/5 shape, tight spin, 76-79. Changeup, mostly straight, 85.

Tyler Miller, SS, East Mississippi CC (MS)
6-foot-2, 185-pound left-handed hitting shortstop, lean athletic frame. Offensively, open setup, hands load back, short stride, maintains good balance. Barrel path has some lift to it, line drive approach, hands work athletically through the zone. Defensively, showed good range, arm works loose and easy across the infield.

Coastal Alabama East


Sam Ladner, SS, Coastal Alabama East (AL)
5-10, 185-pound right-handed hitting shortstop, athletically built. Competitor. Defensively, made every play his way, showed good range laterally, quick feet, fluid transfers and release. Used multiple arm slots, arm works athletically. Offensively, barrel control type hitter, found ways to get on. Able runner on the basepaths.

Pensacola St.


DJ Wilkinson, RHP, Pensacola St. (FL)
Troy commit.6-foot-5, 240-pound right-handed pitcher, XL frame, thick upper and lower halves, strength throughout frame. Long arm action, stab on the back-side, high ¾ slot. Drop and drive delivery, good rhythm, carries momentum downhill, works on-line, lands square, finishes in an athletic position. Fastball sat 93-94 early on, settled in at 91-94, was 89-81 from the stretch. Two distinct breaking balls, curveball, 12/6 shape, depth, 75-80. Slider, tight, late action, 11/5 shape, 84-86.

Chad Bryant, RHP, Pensacola St. (FL)
6-foot, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, strong, thick frame. Long, loose arm action, quick arm speed out front, ¾ slot. Strong drop and drive delivery, quick to balance point with slight hip coil, works on-line, lands square, spins off towards first. Fastball sat 93-95, touched 96, armside run, some late life. Curveball, 12/6 shape, depth, late action, manipulated speeds, 72-79.
