Ware out to prove himself at Kent State

NORTH CANTON - A commitment to Kent State has Brody Ware more than excited.

“I’m in the right place,” Ware said. “I’m back where I belong.”

But it also has the 30th-rated player in Ohio’s 2019 class with a bigger chip on his shoulder than ever before.

“This adds to it,” admitted the North Canton Hoover senior, who had previously committed to Liberty following the 2017 Future Games (as a member of Team Ontario) only to be told that his scholarship was being taken away. “I’ve proven people wrong my whole life. I’ve never been the biggest, the strongest, the fastest or the best at my position. I’ve always had to go out and work harder than anyone to prove I belong with the best of the best.

“This just adds to it,” Ware continued. “When you lose a scholarship after so long ...I’m just happy to be able to have the chance to go out and prove them wrong and I’m excited about that.”

Ending up at Kent State came quickly after being told about his scholarship.

“Once I found out there was an issue with my scholarship I decided to move on and reopen my recruitment,” explained the 5-10 160-pounder. “They said they couldn’t guarantee the money and that i could come as a walk-on.”

So the right-handed pitcher began to reach out to others he had talked with during his recruiting process, in particular Kent State.
