SCOUT BLOG: WEEKS 1 & 2

Catholic Memorial @ St. Thomas More – March 30, 2022

By Tell Taylor
PBR Wisconsin Scouting Director

Rory Fox, INF/RHP, 2022, Catholic Memorial
Fox sat 91mph with his fastball, including some arm side action and feel for the zone. He also landed changeups with touch and feel for spots, as well as a sharp curveball that gives hitters fits. Fox also added two doubles on the day, and nearly missed a home run to the alley.

J.T. Kelenic, OF, 2023, Catholic Memorial
Had some impressive swings on the day as well. Kelenic laced a line drive through the middle of the field at what appeared to be 100mph+ off the bat and looked the part of a projectible corner outfield slugger standing 6-4, 210lbs. Kelenic has repeatedly shown off his athleticism in games and showcases alike, and his start to the spring season is no different.

Keith Williams, CIF, 2023, Catholic Memorial
Williams is one of the more interesting players out of Wisconsin’s junior class this spring. While standing with the explosiveness and power of a Division 1 football talent, Williams also carries that juice to the field. Williams has greatly improved his defensive skills through the offseason to complement his 6.7 60 yard dash speed. In the box, Williams swings with serious intent, and can hit as hard as anyone in Wisconsin’s position player pool.

Muskego @ Greendale – March 29, 2022

By Diego Solares & Andy Sroka
PBR Illinois & Wisconsin Staff

Cristiano Ramirez, INF, 2022, Muskego
Wisconsin-Stevens Point commit. Lean athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame; projects. Hit leadoff for Muskego and also started at second base. Served as the spark plug for this lineup, putting together competitive at-bats all day long. Spoiled multiple pitches to eventually reach base in one of his plate appearances, stayed back and drove a breaking ball the other way in another. Assisted in turning two up the middle as well. Should be an integral part of what Muskego is hoping to accomplish this spring.

Ashton Kampa, 1B, 2023, Muskego
Physical 5-foot-11, 215-pound left/left athlete that’s still uncommitted. Hit in the three-hole for Muskego and started at first base. Slightly upright setup in the box with some lower half bend, simple hand load, short stride. Strong hands with above-average bat strength for his age, flat path to contact. Caught three barrels in this game without much swing-and-miss, stayed back up the middle. Can bring middle-of-the-order type power production from the left side for Muskego this spring.

Brock Lulewicz, INF, 2024, Muskego
6-foot, 180-pound lanky, high-waisted frame with room to add strength; left-handed hitter. Currently one of the top prospects in the state’s sophomore class and ranked nationally, too. Started at shortstop and hit in the two-hole for Muskego. Quiet balanced setup in the box, slight pre-pitch hand rhythm, loads in rhythm with a slight hand raise, short stride to front footstrike. Took a handful of quality at-bats. Started the game off with a walk and fouled off multiple pitches in his second at-bat before slapping a bases-clearing double the other way. Just missed another extra-base hit in his third time at the plate, barely missing the barrel on an elevated curveball. Advanced defender on the infield. Helped turn two key double plays for the Warriors and made an athletic run through play late in the game. Vocal leader, active at all times and has a captain-esque makeup. High-follow uncommitted prospect in the state’s 2024 class.

Daniel Hauboldt, INF, 2025, Muskego
Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame that projects to grow more and fill out as physical maturity continues. Emerged a winner and follow name in the state’s freshman class after our South Milwaukee Preseason ID. Drew the start in his first game of varsity action for one of the state’s top programs, played third base. Calm and controlled presence in the box, subtle hand load, utilized a rhythmic leg kick timing trigger. Took a two-strike pitch high off the left field fence in his first career at-bat, missed a home run by a few feet. Soft hands, rhythmic feet, and athletic actions on the infield; looks the part of a stable defender on the dirt.

Tristan Ellis, INF/RHP, 2022, Greendale
Minnesota commit. 5-foot-10, 150-pound left-handed hitter. Reigning Woodland West Conference Player of the Year and widely known as one of the top players in the area. Started at shortstop and hit out of the two-hole for Greendale, took the mound later on in relief. Quiet athletic setup in the box, hands load back in rhythm and utilizes a slight leg kick timing trigger. Short and level path to contact, worked on the barrel twice. Finished with two hits; a hard pull-side line drive in his third at-bat that he turned into a hustle double and a walk-off double to straight away center field in the bottom half of the seventh. Flashed above-average actions defensively, attacking the ball in rhythm and staying low to the ground with savvy hands to pair. Took the mound in relief in the third inning, pitching 4 â…“ key innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out six. Fastball played at 84-85 mph, touching 86 mph late in the game. Brought an ultra-competitive presence to the mound, unfazed by any situation and oozes confidence in himself. High-end senior in the state’s 2022 class, gives Greendale a chance to win each game they play in.
