TC Roberson 1        Wesleyan Christian Academy 4

Game Recap:
TC Roberson traveled to the High Point area to take on Wesleyan Christian at their new Alumni Field. WCA used two good performances on the mound and took advantage of several aggressive mistakes by TC Roberson to take the non-conference game, 4-1.

Junior RHP Luke Barrow worked 5 strong innings for WCA, allowing only 3 hits without any earned runs. He punched 9 over that span. Sophomore Jacob Cozart closed the game, earning a save with 2 innings of work, striking out 4.

In the 3rd, Alejandro Rodriguez and Gavin Byrd opened the frame with singles. A Jacob Cozart ground out moved each runner up. With one out, Alex Jordan hit a slow ground ball to shortstop Luke Wood who made an athletic exchange to try to cut down Rodriguez at the plate. A bang-bang play, the ball was not handled and rolled to the backstop. It appeared the catcher Cambell Conard rode Rodriguez off the plate, and there was never a single indicating Rodriguez safely touched the plate. As Roberson retrieved the ball to the backstop, Gavin Byrd was able to cross the plate as well. This put WCA up 2-0.

TC Roberson would answer with one in the 4th. The first two batters would reach safely on a single and an error. Kobe Miles laid down a bunt, fielded by catcher Chet Sikes who made an aggressive play to 3B, only to see the ball sail on him, scoring Ty Gossett. Barrow would bare down on the mound to get a pop up and punch out, followed by a fielder's choice to close the threat and keep the lead.

WCA built the lead right back to a 2 runs with an RBI triple from N Boles, scoring Chet Sikes in the bottom of the 4th. A leadoff walk and error in the 5th would lead to WCA's 4th and final run of the game.

Cozart closed the game, retiring the first 5 hitters he faced, striking out 4 of them. A single and hit-by-pitch would bring up the game tying run in the 7th, but Cozart induced a ground ball to end the treat.
