MLB Draft Buzz: Texas Heat
March 3, 2025
Johnson City, TX – Head west from Austin about an hour and the friendly, small-town features of Johnson City will greet you: a charming Main Street and downtown area, minimal traffic lights, and the fresh tailgating smells of pregame high school sports. A place where the community feels tight-knit and supportive with generational roots. This night, with its welcomed warmth and slight breeze, hardly needed anything special to draw out the masses to the home of Eagles baseball, but those in attendance enjoyed the display demonstrated by MLB Draft prospect, LHP Johnny Slawinski.
Slawinski, a Prep Baseball All-American who is situated as the #3 left-handed pitching prospect in the class, toed the rubber in front of what felt like the entire town. Also spearheading the Eagles lineup from the leadoff spot, he casually strolled through a hitless four innings that included 11 strikeouts and a hit-by-pitch with just one ball being put in play (an infield error after a groundball on a slider).
