The Hotlist: 2016 Draft Superlatives

By Nathan Rode

With the draft just a few weeks away, we kick off our preview coverage with a look at some of the superlatives in the 2016 high school class. Below are several categories and players from the Prep Baseball Report coverage area, as well as others across the country, that are considered the winners.

Best Athlete: The son of former NBA player Rich Manning, RHP Matt Manning (Sheldon HS, CA) gets high marks for his athleticism. Everything he does on the mound is easy and he has good body control. He is expected to go in the top 10 picks in June, easily pulling him away from his Loyola Marymount commitment. If he weren’t such a high profile prospect, he could have played baseball and basketball for the Lions. RHP Riley Pint (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, KS) is also considered an exceptional athlete. He has a lightning quick arm and can also put on a display at the plate with excellent raw power.
