Tournament MVP: 

 

 

Connor Cino C / 1B / Wando, SC / 2020

 

Cino hit second in the Wando lineup throughout the weekend, he finished with a .455 average, reaching base safely in all 4 games. He made appearances at 1B and behind the plate for the Warriors, compiling 10 RBIs, walking 4 times and contributing 2 sac flies and a double. Cino lead the charge for the Wando offense in the championship game going 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs, 2 Runs scored, and a walk, reaching base in 3 of 5 plate appearances. Cino finished the weekend 12 for 17 in the QAB category and did not record a strike out in 4 games.

 

 

 

 

 

- All Tournament Team - 

Evan Grant (SS, Wando, 2020) - Hit .714 with 5 hits, 5 rbis, and scored 6 runs. Added two doubles and two steals reaching base safely in all four games. Flashed athleticism at the SS position all weekend. 

Jack Skole (2B, Wando, 2020) - Hit .500 with 5 hits and scored 4 runs. Turned in a solid defensive effort along with Grant up the middle for Wando. 

Jake Zurilla (1B, Wando, 2021) - Picked up 5 hits, good for a .500 batting average. Added 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored including a double and triple. There is some juice in the bat, showed quick hands and generates some bat speed. 

Connor Cino (1B, Wando, 2020) - Produced a .455 batting average and a tournament best 10 RBIs from the second spot in the Warrior lineup. South Carolina recruit. 

Conner Boan (OF, Wando, 2020) - The Wando leadoff man hit .400 on the weekend and helped pace the offense scoring 5 runs and driving in 4 more he also chipped in two stolen bases. Solid defender, patrolled the OF for Wando all weekend. 

Paxton Tolleson (C, Chapman, 2020) - The Chapman catcher was a mainstay behind the plate all weekend. Handled his pitchers well, above avg. block and recover skills. He also hit .615 with a double and 2 RBIs. 

Tyler Rogers (1B/LHP, Chapman, 2020) - Rogers hit .533 collecting 5 singles, a triple, and two home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored 7 times from the leadoff spot. Quick hands and big time raw power. Southern Wesleyan recruit. 

Walt Waddell (LHP/1B, Chapman, 2022) - Hit .615 on the weekend with 7 RBIs. He also pitched 2.2 innings, striking out 2 and picking up a save. Long limbs and projectable build.

Austin Parr (OF/RHP, Chapman, 2020) - Parr had 4 hits including triple. He scored 5 times, good for second on his team. He also collected a win on the mound pitching 4.2 innings, striking out 5. Erskine recruit.

Cole Bitting (RHP/3B, Rock Hill, 2020) - Threw a complete game against Wando on Saturday only allowing 3 runs. He showed the ability to control the strike zone and change speeds at will keeping the Wando hitters off balance.

Kyle Wimmer (1B, Rock Hill, 2021) - Hit .555 on the weekend with 5 hits and walked 4 times. Reached base safely in all 4 games and scored 3 runs. Showed a compact LH swing with good bat to ball skills.

John Wimmer (SS, Rock Hill, 2023) - The freshman started all four games for the Bearcats at SS. He collected 4 hits including a double, scored 3 runs, and added a stolen base. One of several underclassman standouts on the weekend.

Burgess Gurganus (RHP/1B, North Myrtle Beach, 2022) - Hit safely in all four games on the weekend. Compiling a batting average of .555 with a double and 2 runs scored. Solid build, ball jumps off the bat with surprising carry. 

Trace Hall (OF, North Myrtle Beach, 2022) - Hit .375 on the weekend and turned in a solid defensive effort for the Chiefs. Another underclassman who showed upside on the weekend.

Billy Barlow (RHP/UTL, North Myrtle Beach, 2021) - Threw 4 innings on Friday and punched out 5 in a no decision. Was 90-91 with the FB in the 4th inning. Also picked up 4 hits at the plate. With a lightening quick arm and projectable frame it is easy to dream about how hard he could throw one day. Clemson recruit. 

Lawson Bryant (INF, Walhalla, 2023) - Picked up 5 hits on the weekend, good for a .455 batting average. He also scored two runs and reached on a walk. Made the move from 2B to 3B and didn't disappoint for the Razorbacks.

James Hanvey (SS, Walhalla, 2020) - Finished 7 for 13 with 3 runs, 5 RBI, 2 BB, a triple, and a stolen base. Also picked up a save on the mound in game 1. Athletic INF, showed one of the best hit tools on the weekend. Charleston Southern recruit. 

Josh Davis (SS/RHP, Stratford, 2021) - Produced on the mound and at the plate for Stratford. Was clocked at 88 on the mound in a 6 inning winning effort in which he struck out 9 batters. Ended the weekend 6 for 14 with a double, 2 RBI, and run scored.

Chase Dougherty (OF, Indian Land, 2020) - Finished notching 4 doubles and patrolled CF all weekend for the Warriors. Strong frame, patrolled CF all weekend for Indian Land. Tracks the ball well in the OF, sneaky good runner. Lander recruit.

Nick Vaughn (RHP/1B, Ashley Ridge, 2021) - Finished the tournament hitting safely in all 4 games. Went 7 for 14 good for a .500 average. Scored 4 runs, had 2 doubles, and 2 stolen bases. Threw 5.2 innings and struck out 5 allowing 6 hits.

Rashard Brown (OF, Ashley Ridge, 2021) - Picked up 4 hits included 3 triples to go along with 4 runs, 3 RBIs, and a stolen base for Ashley Ridge. Projection, projection, projection...Brown is a high quality athlete with a raw skill set, he will surprise some people this season.

Hogan Garner (C, James Island, 2022) - Reached base safely in all four games, ending the event with 4 hits and 4 RBIs and a double. Also pitched 4.1 innings without allowing a run and striking out 3. One of the top catchers in the state, advanced receiving skills, steals strikes for his pitchers. Clemson recruit.

Bryce Morris (INF/RHP, James Island, 2020) - Threw 5.2 innings allowing only 1 earned run. Finished with a .462 average going 6 for 13 in four games with 2 doubles, 2 triples, and 6 RBI. Mix of strength and athleticism, still some untapped projection remaining.

McAndrew Mangin (OF, James Island, 2022) - Had a .500 average on the weekend going 7-14 with 2 triples and 3 RBIs. Sophomore showed quick hands and the ability to be on time consistently. Hit tool will only improve as he sees higher level pitching. 

Easton Cullison (SS, Byrnes, 2020) - Finished with a .416 average going 5 for 12. Scored 2 runs and drove in 5 more. Added 2 stolen bases on the weekend. One of the best bats at the event, rangy SS made some "web gem" caliber plays. USC Upstate signee.

Grayson Selepes (OF, Byrnes, 2022) - Reached base safely in all four games picking up 5 hits on the weekend to go along with 3 runs, 3 RBIs, and a stolen base. Threw 2 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 2. A quality young player for Byrnes, sparked the offense from the leadoff spot. Should be able to reach base consistently for them this season and set the table for the likes of Cullison, Fulmer, and Thompson. 

Kadan Roach (RHP/1B, Byrnes, 2023) - Threw 5 innings, allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 5. Hit safely in all four games going 5 for 12 with 5 RBIs. Another underclassman that stood out at the event, was fun to watch on the mound but also turned in some quality ABs on the weekend.
