Expected Team Strength - Our team will return 4 starters in our infield from last year's team so we are expecting our infield defense to be pretty solid. We will have 2 pitchers in our rotation that have contributed significantly and have playoff experience under their belts.
QUOTE FROM THE COACH:
For the 2025 season we are excited about the opportunity to compete in AAAA. We have been a AAA team for the last 24 seasons. We finished in the final 4 last year and had unbelievable team chemistry. We expect our returning players to build off of last year's team unity and give us an opportunity to compete for a AAAA state championship.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Zechariah Haney, RHP/C, 2025, Newberry College. Haney has continued to develop as a Left-handed hitter and a baseball player overall. He won the Overall MVP last summer for the State Champion American Legion Team. He was also able to have some great success on the mound in the last year as well. We expect him to have a special season this spring.
Cade Marturano, RHP, 2025, Francis Marion College. Cade played a huge role in relief for our playoff run last spring. He should be our number 2 pitcher this spring.
Thomas Bishop, 3B, R/R 2026. Thomas had a tremendous defensive season as a sophomore in 2024. He struggled at the plate but has had a very good summer and fall. We are expecting him to have a breakout season this spring.
Brady Furniss, 2B/SS, L/R 2027. Brady had a very successful season last year and was a full time starter last year at 2B as a Freshman. We are not sure if he will move to SS or stay at 2B, but he will definitely be a MIF for us. He also batted second in our lineup last year and we expect him to move to the leadoff position.
Mac Mellichamp, C/DH/RHP, R/R, 2026. Mac was our backup catcher last season and will catch when Haney pitches for us as he did last year. He was our DH when he didn't catch and batted 5th for us last year. He had a very productive season with several clutch RBI's. We are hoping he can have another great season in the middle of our hitting order.
Logan Freeman, OF, R/R, 2025. Logan was a part time starter in the outfield for us last year and is a very solid player that does all of the little things right.
Wyatt Thompson, OF, R/R, 2025. Wyatt will anchor our CF position this spring. He is extremely athletic and can really run and defend. He has had a lot of success in our football program and that confidence should carry over to a successful spring season as well.
Charlie Ray, OF/DH, L/R, 2025. Charlie could emerge as a productive left-handed hitter for our team this spring. He has worked extremely hard and has put himself into a situation to have a great year.
