WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
Expected Team Strength - Our strengths this year should be our pitching staff and lineup depth. We are returning 2 key starting arms that, if healthy, can win any game they pitch. Our lineup is strong throughout with several weapons on the bench fighting for a spot. If we can keep teams under control at the plate and put up consistent pressure and runs with our lineup, we should win more games than we lose.
QUOTE FROM THE COACH:
I'm excited to see if we can live up to the hype. Our motto this year is "potential is dangerous" because with so many people telling you how good you're supposed to be, it's easy to sit back and expect that to happen. Potential doesn't win games. At the same time, the potential we have is dangerous.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Pierce Mullen, C/RHP, 25, Florence Darlington, Explosive player at the plate and especially the mound. Great instincts for the game on the bases and defense. There isn't a position on the field he can't play.
Charlie Helms, SS/C, 25, Uncommitted, Makes the "wow" plays look easy. He's probably the most difficult out at the plate and when he's on the bases he's trouble. You blink and he's at 3rd base.
Nolan Clifford, LHP, 25, Uncommitted, He's been our work horse for 3 years and I can't wait to see what his Senior season will bring. The kid knows how to pitch. He uses 3 pitches effectively and has the big game attitude. He wants the ball.
Blake Johnson, 2B, 27, Uncommitted, Blake is our next Charlie Helms. He is Mr. Dependable and the seniors call him "franchise" because he just seems to do everything right. He's an incredibly mature Sophomore who handles the bat well and makes every play on defense. He may not wow you with his measurables yet but he is an exciting player for anyone who knows baseball.
Brian Ebeling, SS/RHP, 28, Uncommitted, Brian may be the most exciting prospect we've had in our program yet. He is a freshman sitting near 80 with mature control of the zone and 2 pitches. He's explosive and only going to get more so. The ball snaps out of his hand and jumps off of the barrel at the plate. Brian may not know how good he it yet.
