Midlands Open ID: Quick Hitters - Pitchers

Sammy Esposito
PBR SC Director of Scouting

The Midlands Open ID with Advanced Analytics took place on Wednesday Oct. 13th at Lexington County BallPark in Lexington South Carolina. Prospects from the event came from around the Palmetto state on a beautiful fall evening.

The event began with a defensive evaluation for catchers, pitcher bullpens with each pitch tracked by Trackman, along with Pitch AI.  A pro-style workout for all the position players followed that included the 60 yard dash, BP with TrackMan ball flight analysis, and a defensive evaluation.

Below we will look at some quick hitters from the pitchers for the event.

QUICK HITTERS

Daniel Parker - 2025 - RHP/INF (Hartsville (HS) • SC)

Big time showing from this youngster.  A smooth athletic and repeatable delivery with lightning in his arm with his FB 86-88.  Really good arm speed with good life to FB with an average spin rate of 2400.  Most impressive for this young man with a big arm was the ability to throw his change up.  A really good offspeed pitch that he tunnels well with FB while showing really good action on the pitch.

Austin Laughlin - 2024 - RHP/OF (Cardinal Newman (HS) • SC)

6’3 175 pound frame.  A tall long lean frame with great projection.  Showed the ability to 3 pitches from the same over the top arm slot.  Another big arm on the night with an average FB of 87 mph while also spinning a good 12/6 CB that makes a tough combo for hitters coming out of the same slot.  Also showed a feel for a change up that shows good action from the higher slot.

Hunter Howard - 2024 - RHP (JL Mann (HS) • SC)

A strong frame RHP with present strength and more room to grow.  A short arm action with deception as he hides the ball from hitters.  Good tempo in his delivery with repeatable mechanics.  Showed the ability to throw 3 pitches with his average FB at 86.3, a good tight CB at 73 mph, and his CH at 79.8 mph with good action to it.

Dalton Bisbano - 2025 - LHP/OF (Pinewood Prep (HS) • SC)

A lean broad shoulder projectable left hander with room to grow.  Long arm swing with clean smooth mechanics.  Shows a good tight breaking ball with good spin and break to it.  Good arm speed on all pitches while having some deception with throwing across his body a bit.

Cody Bradt - 2024 - RHP/OF (Bluffton (HS) • SC)

5-11 180 pound strong body frame with present strength.  Showed a good quick arm with good tempo and rhythm in his delivery.  Really good hand speed on his pitches while showing greally good spin on his curveball.  Showed the ability to throw 3 pitches with good action and for strikes.

Cooper Coleman - 2025 - RHP/C (West Florence (HS) • SC)

A young right hander with broad shoulders and plenty of room for added strength.  Good feel for 3 pitches.  A smooth arm swing and tempo.  Shows the ability to really spin his breaking ball and change up.  Good direction in delivery with good leg drive.
