5 Star National 2020

Preston Hall, 3B, Myers Park NC (2020) - Commits to CofC

After participating in the PBR Fall Championship - Southeast, Hall made a commitment to play baseball at The College of Charleston. The left handing hitting infielder had a solid PBR Future Games showing off his ability to drive the ball with natural loft and next level power. He followed that up with his performance this past weekend which included multiple extra base hits and a HR to deep right center field.

Chandler Riley, SS, Cox Mill NC, (2020) - UNC Charlotte

The 6 footer showed excellent range and a strong arm from the short stop position. Confident hands and footwork played himself into a good fielding position and present arm strength produced plenty of carry on throws across the diamond. A LHH showed a controlled approach at the plate and good understanding of the strike zone. Working from a slightly open stance the stride foot lands softly back to parallel, quiet hands/head give him an advanced understanding of the barrel, connecting on multiple offerings in multiple locations.

5 Star Carolina 2021

Archie Herring, OF, Westchester CD NC, (2021)

Athletic 5 foot 10 outfielder. Strong lower half and square shoulders. Slightly open stance and high hand set. Hand set produces a steeper attack angle into the hitting zone. Showed good bat speed and aggressiveness on multiple swings. Cleared the bases with a 3 RBI double in the championship game.

Justin Lehman, C, Nation Ford SC, (2021)

Left handed hitting catcher with an athletic 6 foot 1 frame. Controlled the game from behind the plate during the semifinal game. Athletic setup for a taller catcher. He wants to receive the ball lower in the zone and showed confident hands when receiving multiple offerings. Blocking ability is present. Accurate arm put multiple throws to second right over the bag in a 1.98 - 2.24 range and also threw behind runners at 1B.

5 Star National 2022

Nick Duncan, RHP, Patrick Springs, VA (2020)

5 foot 9, 140-pound athletic right handed pitcher. Well proportioned compact frame. Working from the wind-up with a high leg kick well above the belt. Landed in-line with a clean arm action and OTT slot. FB was commanded to both sides of the plate with mostly straight action, slight run at the plate when thrown to the arm side. FB 77-78 T79 Curveballs landed for strikes with 10/4 shape at 62-64.

Knights Prime Nation 2020

Daniel Brown , INF/LHP, Broughton NC, (2020)

6 foot 2 wiry frame with length throughout the limbs. Worked from the wind up to a balance point slightly above the belt. Front shoulder closed at separation and landing slightly open, 3/4 arm slot produced 80-82 mph fastballs that topped at 83. Commanded a tight slider with 2/8 shape and late life at the plate. (SL 66-68) Confident feel for the SL, used in multiple counts and situations. Hit tool present as well. Wristy feel for the barrel with good power. Doubled into deep right center field on an elevated fast ball. Wider stance with preset bat angle behind the head. Hands are deep over the back foot at launch and positive attack angle is present.

SC Dirtbags 2021

Witt Branham, RHP/INF, Lugoff-Elgin SC, (2021)

Lengthy RHP with youth to his advantage. Frame will support additional mass through future development. High leg kick that lands slightly closed. Working from the right side of the rubber with an extended 3/4 arm slot that produced good arm side run. Commanded the fastball 73-75 T77 with a loose biting curveball at 64, potential to turn into an out pitch as arm speed increases.

Tyler Burgess, RHP, Myrtle Beach SC, (2021)

Proportional RHP with a short quick arm stroke. Ball comes out of the hand cleanly and gets onto hitters with surprising life. FB 77-79 T80 with ASR. Works to get to a high balance point above the belt, chases the front side down hill with good extension to the plate. Showed a curveball at 68 mph. Threw a complete game shutout against PBR Kentucky in game two of the weekend.

Kauden Crawford, OF/LHP, Hoggard NC, (2022)

LHH showed the ability to track the ball well in CF. Young player with good speed that will only improve with age. At the plate starts from a wide/balanced stance. Simple load and stride into a low line drive bat path. Really wants to stay inside the ball and use the middle of the field. Athletic ability and speed alone make him a follow.

SC DIrtbags 2020

Chase Dougherty, OF/C, Indian Land SC, (2020)

5 foot 10 outfielder with a strong lower half. Fringe runner but possesses natural instincts as a corner outfielder. Avg arm strength at present could improve with future player development. Starts from a slightly open stance with a longer stride getting his hands deep over the bat foot. Handset at launch is just off the back shoulder creating natural loft with the barrel through the zone. Natural loft and lower body suggest future power potential.

Marshall Freeman, 1B, St. James SC, (2020)

Slender first baseman with length in the levers (6-5, 205). LHH with a high handset. Showed good bat to ball skills on the weekend hitting the ball hard multiple times to the right side. Also showed athletic footwork around the first base bag on balls in the dirt and errant throws that turned into tag plays.

DBAT Elite - Low Country

Matthew Bornschever OF/RHP, Beaufort SC, (2021)

Compact 5 foot 9 frame with good athletic ability. Pitched game one and worked with a 75-78 mph fastball and 66-68 mph curveball with 10/4 shape. Tempo was quick with an abbreviated follow through. At the plate, started from a wide stance with his body weight crouched into his bat side. Handset is deep over the back foot, showed good pitch recognition and strike zone awareness from the leadoff spot. Singled twice to left field attacking fastballs with aggressiveness to the pull side.
