Super 60 Preview: South Carolina Sending 2 Top Prospects

Sammy Esposito
PBR SC Director of Scouting

The Super 60 has quickly become the premier winter draft event in the country.  Each year, the first weekend in February sees close to 100 of the top high school draft prospects from that year converge on Chicago, IL.  Prep Baseball hosts the event in a facility that allows for a full infield, space so players can run a full 60, plus outfielders are able to stretch their arms over 200' and during BP, hitters are able to see the ball fly close to 200' off the bat.

The Super 60 will see scouts from every MLB organization, with many clubs bringing several of their top evaluators.  Several Super 60's in the past have seen their fair share of scouting directors and upper level evaluators in the crowd.  With the talent that the Prep Baseball Scouting staff in each territory has put together, and the work of Shooter Hunt, Prep Baseball's National Scouting Supervisor, the 2025 Super 60 will be on of the best to take place.

This year, two draft prospects from South Carolina will be working out at the Super 60.  The No. 4 ranked player in South Carolina's 2025 class, Stow Rogers will be joined by the No. 5 ranked player in South Carolina, Peter Mershon.

Below we walk through the prospects of each Super 60 player from SC and give a glimpse of what will be on display on the national stage.  You can see the full roster for the 2025 Prep Baseball Super 60 HERE.

South Carolina Prospects at the Super 60

Stow Rogers C / 3B / James Island Charter, SC / 2025

As the 2025 catching class continues to take shape this winter, Rogers emerges as a top notch prospect with the potential to make a significant impact. A powerful right-handed hitter, he consistently produces triple-digit exit velocities, showcasing his advanced offensive ability. Defensively, his strong arm, clean footwork, and soft hands make him a standout behind the plate. Along with showing off his high level athleticsicm and showing off a 6.8 60 time.  Adding to his intrigue, Rogers is the youngest among the top-ranked catchers in the class, a factor that could further elevate his stock as he continues to develop.

Peter Mershon C / OF / Eastside, SC / 2025

Mershon may be the most athletic catcher in the country, while posting an impressive 6.58-second 60-yard dash in the past while delivering strong, accurate throws from behind the plate and driving balls to all fields while really showing the ability to hit at a hight level against all types of arms. Built at 6-foot-2, 187 pounds with lean strength, the right-handed hitter displayed quick hands and a slightly uphill bat path, initiated by a subtle late coil of the hands. A hard-working defender with strong leadership qualities, Mershon’s blend of athleticism, power potential, and defensive ability makes him a valuable asset who is poised to contribute at the next level.
