The Classic Scout Blog Part 1
March 11, 2025
The Classic featured top teams and talent from across the state, with Prep Baseball on-site for the action.
Hosted by Georgetown High School at the historic Mike Johnson Park, this eight-team tournament showcased high-level competition.
Below are notes and videos highlighting standout performances from each team.
Troy commit. Right-handed hitter with a large and supremely strong frame throughout. At the plate, stands with a wide stance and weight preset on back leg with front shoulder tilted slightly down and hands even with ear height. Strong sink into back hip triggers load, short stride stores up energy in lower half before unleashing powerful rotation in lower half and a quick & forceful barrel in zone. Premium bat/hand speed on display with each swing producing light tower power routinely. Good movements and footwork behind the plate with clean exchanges. Potential for instant impact at D1 level and may open some pro eyes heading into this summer’s draft.

2027 Trip Ostergard, SS, James Island
6-0 177-pound frame, right-handed hitter with lean athleticism and good proportionate strength throughout. Bounces around IF and can hop on the mound in a pinch. At the plate, stance is wider and open, loose hand movements right around ear level pre-swing looking to get to his spot in load/stride. Slight lean forward to gain momentum before shifting weight back to begin load. Impressive balance and lower half strength to hang on back leg in initial sink before squaring to the mound, hands stretch creating rubber band effect and brings barrel thru the zone with a forceful rotation of lower half. Good short swing with easy quickness in hands and matches plane with a level path. LD approach with some g2g ability at present, with more power to come as he continues to grow and mature. Twitchy hands in swing that plays well against velocity, a lot of upside with the bat and a reliable MIF.
