TOP PLAYERS (Coach’s Comments)

Jacob Wright, Bats:R /throws:L, 5'8"/160lb, 7-1 W-L/1.45 ERA/48 K's/48.1 INN in 2014, All-District 13AA - All-Region 7.  Over his two years pitching on the varsity team he has a combined 1.68 ERA in roughly 90 innings or so.  Although he does not throw real hard with his fastball, he has a plus off speed pitches.  He is a winner and a competitor, and there is no one that wants the ball more than he does.  He played for Batter's Box Baseball over the summer. Dylan Moore, Bats:R /Throws:R, 5'8" 160lb, .429 OBP/.542 SLG/12 SB's/20 R/22 RBI in 2014, All-District Tournament 13AA.  He is a spark plug guy for our team that plays with a lot of energy.  He is only about 5'8" and throws in the low-mid 80's from the OF.  He played in the PBR unsigned seniors game this summer and played really well. Hayden Lewis, bats:L/throws:L, 6'1 200lb, .433 OBP/.569 SLG/24 SB's/35 R/23 RBI in 2014.  Lewis is a player that has projectable talent as he can run (6.9 - 60 yd), throw, hit for power and contact, and is a solid defensive option that can play any of the three outfield positions.  Lewis played for Batter's Box Baseball throughout the summer and the fall of 2014.

Chandler Whitaker, bats:R/throws:R, 6'1" 210lb, .387 OBP/.500 SLG/11 SB/22 R/28 RBI in 2014, All-District 13 AA.  Whitaker is a strong player that is a middle of the line-up hitter for us. He is a corner OF that's best asset is at the plate. He is a extra base hit threat that stays with a line drive approach.

Walker Fraley, bats:L/throws:L, 5'10" 170lb, .432 OBP/.360 SLG/8 SB/18 R/10 RBI in 2014.  Walker Fraley is a versatile LH hitting outfielder. He is a baseball savvy player that can run, throw, hit for contact, and is an above average defensive option that can play any of the three outfield positions.

NOTABLE LOSSES

Austin Moore - C - All-District 13AA

Marshall Pearson - C - All-District 13AA

According to the Coach

Offensively, we are bringing back some weapons from a very successful 2014 team.  We may be slightly unconventional with the lineup in that we do not have a group of guys that have typical 3-4-5 hitters, but we have players that are going to be productive in the situations that we are going to put them in.  We are bringing back some speed and will try to utilize that in our offensive approach to scoring runs this season.

Defensively, we are going to be experienced in that 7 of our 9 projected starters were able to get plenty of varsity reps during the 2014 season.  This is something that we are planning on leaning on this season and being solid in the defensive category helps out every aspect of the game for any team.  I think that the speed that we addressed with our offense will help us to be a better defensive team as well.

The pitching side of things is a topic that we are excited about.  Being a college pitcher, having a team that throws strikes on a consistent basis is something that is extremely important to me.  We are working with our pitchers on being consistent with their command every time they pick up a baseball.  We lost two pitchers from last years team, but we feel excited about the people we have coming back and the people that we have competing to fill those spots from last year's team.

We had a successful year last season, and we are trying and working to building on to that for the coming year.
