It won't be long before we're hearing the ringing of high school bats and popping of leather mitts as the 2022 high school season will kick off on March 14th. We've been rolling out preseason coverage with team previews and team/class rankings will be presented in the near future.

At the conclusion of last season, we posted our inaugural PBR TN All-State teams featuring three rosters and 75 total players. Those teams were selected based on a blend of high school stats and also prospect profile as it was a great way to recognize some incredible individual performances from the 2021 season. For this upcoming season, we've decided to put together a PBR TN All-State watchlist in the form of the PBR TN Top 100. To be clear, this is not a top 100 prospect rankings. This list is formed based on a combination of factors: 1. projected production in hitting/pitching 2. player will play an integral role in their school's success 3. simply these are the players that opposing coaches do not want to see on the mound or at bat in big game moments. As we release the list you'll see: Mr. baseball winners/finalist, limited players per high school, some power 5 commits will not included, some D2/Juco commits will be included, and uncommitted players will be included. This list is centered around production and the ability to impact games every single night of the season.

We can look at it a few ways, so first let's think of it as a 2022 TN high school fantasy baseball rankings. If you were constructing a team, you're gonna want guys who suit up every night and are gonna log a lot of at bats and innings on the mound to maximize stat output. This list features a lot of team's aces and meat of the order hitters, who may play a key position defensively or produce as a two-way. Fantasy sports websites always put out a preseason rankings to help consumers draft and help maximize their season success. The second way to to observe the list, is consider crossing sport lines in comparison to the annual NFL Top 100. For those not familiar, the NFL Top 100 is a preseason publication that honors the top 100 players voted on by the players. They usually roll it out and players give insight on other players abilities, but often fans are fully engaged in dissecting and criticizing the surprises and "snubs." For an example, I think it would be hard pressed to convince anyone that Tom Brady is NOT the best player to suit it up in the NFL, entirely based on his stats, records, awards, championships, etc. However, Brady has only been voted no. 1 three times in the past decade with his last being before the 2018 season. Also, Cooper Kupp was arguably the best wide receiver this past season, racking up nearly 2,000 receiving yards and a Super Bowl MVP, but he wasn't featured on the preseason list. Soooo with that being said sit back and enjoy the list, its purpose is a fun way for players and parents to follow numerous skilled high school kids this season.

*One more time for the people in the back: This is not a Top 100 prospects list*

Top 100

No. 91-100

No. 81-90

No. 71-80

No. 61-70

Will Dugan RHP / 1B / Lipscomb Academy, TN / 2022

No. 70: The Lipscomb commit and former future gamer missed the 2021 high school season due to Tommy John surgery. The Mustangs fell one game short of making the final four in Murfreesboro last season, and the return of a upper 80s-90 arm is a big time addition. Dugan getting back to form to fill out the 1-2 punch with Mr. Baseball finalist Miller Green along with LA's deep roster of college commits, should be a formula for success in 2022.

Brennon Seigler OF / RHP / Farragut, TN / 2024

No. 69: As a freshman last season, Seigler was featured in the lineup everyday and handled outfield duties. He helped Farragut reach the state tournament and picked up plenty of experience as he'll be a more featured players after a heavy graduation class of seniors positionally. The Tennessee commit will play a key role in a sophomore heavy Admirals club as they enter the new 4A classification.

Olin Johnson RHP / McCallie School , TN / 2023

No. 68: The long, lanky right hander, who moved in from Washington, features a mid to upper 80s FB. The Washington State commit will be featured on a talented McCallie club with some high power arms and plenty of veteran impact bats. Johnson will look to be key catalyst in his first full go season in the Volunteer State.

Thomas Crabtree 3B / RHP / Collierville , TN / 2023

No. 67: The Collierville infielder really dazzled with the glove last Spring in a look vs Riverdale. Smooth actions at SS and made all the plays plus a few most guys don't make. The ETSU commit will be an impact player for the Dragons and play a key position. Also, shown some upside on the mound in the upper 80s, which is a nice addition to his overall profile. Collierville got dropped in the sub-state game last year, and return a strong core to push for the 4A title in 2022.

Griffin Graves LHP / OF / Trinity Christian Academy , TN / 2023

No. 66: Trinity Christian put together a strong campaign before getting knocked off by King's Academy. Graves was utilized in a relief/weekend starter last season, but no.2 Brady Robertson down this season, the Auburn commit will jump into a a district role. He's shown some filthy stuff from the left side with FB in the upper 80s and sharp breaking ball. Graves will look to help Trinity Christian make a deeper postseason push this season.

Hudson Lutterman SS / RHP / Knoxville Catholic, TN / 2024

No. 65: Lutterman was a consistent producer for the Irish last Spring while manning the infield as a true freshman. He built off that with a strong summer, picking up a commitment to Virginia Tech. In his last season playing along side his brother Landon, Hudson will play a crucial role in the Knox. Catholic offense and their overall success.

Jack Brafa RHP / 2B / South Gibson County, TN / 2023

No. 64: South Gibson County had a strong club last year, making a run to sub-state. Brafa was a big arm for them in his sophomore season due to his mid 80s FB and strong command for the zone. This season expect a velocity uptick and be the feature guy after losing several arms to graduation. He's still uncommitted at this point, but he will be one that can put together a strong campaign to help them reach state.

Carter Hewitt 3B / 1B / McCallie, TN / 2022

No. 63: Lot of focus has been on the McCallie arms heading into the season, but Hewitt was a middle of the order guy with pop and offensive production. The Army West-Point commit is prepping for his senior campaign and will handle duties at 3B. The Blue Tornadoes will need him to lead the offense yet again as they look to improve upon their final four appearance last year.

Grant Donkin RHP / 3B / Springfield, TN / 2022

No. 62: The uncommitted 2022 has shown he has high end stuff, running his FB up to 92 last preseason. Last Spring, he worked more 85-90 and his output was dependent on how well he controlled the zone. Springfield would probably be picked to finish third in a good district behind Clarksville and Rossview, but they have a high level arm to matchup and not to mention he's shown power from the left side with exit velocity over 100.

Jonah Smithson RHP / 2B / Goodpasture Christian, TN / 2022

No. 61: Smithson was as sharp as I've seen him last Spring in a start vs Hendersonville. He worked up to 87 with sharp breaking ball and a biting splitter while going CG and 10+ Ks. This summer he ran it up to 90 at Lakepoint before committing to Trevecca. He'll slot as the number two behind Connor Martin on a very talented Goodpasture squad, who will be on a redemption tour after an early bow out in the 2021 postseason.
