It won't be long before we're hearing the ringing of high school bats and popping of leather mitts as the 2022 high school season will kick off on March 14th. We've been rolling out preseason coverage with team previews and team/class rankings will be presented in the near future.

At the conclusion of last season, we posted our inaugural PBR TN All-State teams featuring three rosters and 75 total players. Those teams were selected based on a blend of high school stats and also prospect profile as it was a great way to recognize some incredible individual performances from the 2021 season. For this upcoming season, we've decided to put together a PBR TN All-State watchlist in the form of the PBR TN Top 100. To be clear, this is not a top 100 prospect rankings. This list is formed based on a combination of factors: 1. projected production in hitting/pitching 2. player will play an integral role in their school's success 3. simply these are the players that opposing coaches do not want to see on the mound or at bat in big game moments. As we release the list you'll see: Mr. baseball winners/finalist, limited players per high school, some power 5 commits will not included, some D2/Juco commits will be included, and uncommitted players will be included. This list is centered around production and the ability to impact games every single night of the season.

We can look at it a few ways, so first let's think of it as a 2022 TN high school fantasy baseball rankings. If you were constructing a team, you're gonna want guys who suit up every night and are gonna log a lot of at bats and innings on the mound to maximize stat output. This list features a lot of team's aces and meat of the order hitters, who may play a key position defensively or produce as a two-way. Fantasy sports websites always put out a preseason rankings to help consumers draft and help maximize their season success. The second way to to observe the list, is consider crossing sport lines in comparison to the annual NFL Top 100. For those not familiar, the NFL Top 100 is a preseason publication that honors the top 100 players voted on by the players. They usually roll it out and players give insight on other players abilities, but often fans are fully engaged in dissecting and criticizing the surprises and "snubs." For an example, I think it would be hard pressed to convince anyone that Tom Brady is NOT the best player to suit it up in the NFL, entirely based on his stats, records, awards, championships, etc. However, Brady has only been voted no. 1 three times in the past decade with his last being before the 2018 season. Also, Cooper Kupp was arguably the best wide receiver this past season, racking up nearly 2,000 receiving yards and a Super Bowl MVP, but he wasn't featured on the preseason list. Soooo with that being said sit back and enjoy the list, its purpose is a fun way for players and parents to follow numerous skilled high school kids this season.

*One more time for the people in the back: This is not a Top 100 prospects list*

Top 100

No. 91-100

No. 81-90

No. 71-80

Ashton Alston RHP / 3B / Gallatin, TN / 2024

No. 80: Gallatin loses some key pieces from last years club who was very competitive in a challenging district, but the Alabama commit will be in the spotlight. He's beginning to fill out his long, lanky frame and reports of the FB getting up to 90. He'll serve as the ace and will give Gallatin a chance in a somewhat wide open district this season.

Landon Franklin SS / RHP / Walker Valley , TN / 2023

No. 79: The Kentucky commit has been a staple at shortstop for the Mustangs over the years. There is some physicality in his frame as he makes consistent hard contact and can drive the ball into the gaps. Walker Valley was disappointed in last seasons result, dropping in the first round of district, and Franklin will play a big role in a deeper postseason push.

Adam Roth LHP / 1B / Dickson County , TN / 2023

No. 78: The uncommitted southpaw has been very consistent, earning a spot on Team TN at the 2021 PBR Future Games. He posted a solid outing, mostly working mid 80s w/ sharp breaking ball. Reports of him getting up to 90 this offseason and he'll be Dickson County's ace this Spring. They'll be the favorites in a compact district and Roth has the ability to throw some big games in the postseason to make a run.

Austin Breedlove RHP / OF / McCallie, TN / 2022

No. 77: McCallie is featuring a deep roster in 2022, especially with arms. Reports of Hudson Calhoun (Ole Miss commit) out this season due to injury, gives Austin Breedlove an expanded role on the mound on top of his positional duties. The wiry Bossier-Parish commit has shown upside as a two-way and features a FB up to 89. He'll play a crucial role for the Blue Tornadoes to get back to the state tournament.

Bryson Rollins SS / RHP / Elizabethton, TN / 2022

No. 76: Rollins has made quite a name for himself on the gridiron at QB, winning two state titles in three appearances and multiple Mr. Football finalists honors. Last Spring, he handled duties at SS for the Cyclones and also worked relief, running the FB up to 89. He's a natural athlete with physicality in his game flashing gap power. Elizabethton was upset in the district tourney and will look to get back on track with a deeper postseason run in 2022.

Dean McCalla RHP / 3B / Houston , TN / 2023

No. 75: McCalla quietly climbed in velo this past Spring/Summer, touching 90 mph with the FB. Been some inconsistency in his starts, but he'll look to put it all together and fill the ace role for the Mustangs this Spring. Houston will have deep roster that should push in the 4A West TN gauntlet district (vs Collierville, Arlington, & Bartlett), and McCalla will be a tone setter for that group.

Logan Molnar SS / 2B / Independence, TN / 2022

No. 74: The Austin Peay commit manned the shortstop position last season and expects to do the same this Spring. Good actions at short and controls the barrel through the zone, leading to consistent barrels to all fields. Independence made a great run, but ultimately fell short in the sub state game vs Clarksville. They'll have a deep cast of arms to utilize and should be right in the mix to make another run this season in hopes of returning to the state tourney.

Cannon Rice RHP / Rossview , TN / 2023

No. 73: Rice missed a chunk of last season, but got back in his groove this summer. He recently tickled 90 at the Preseason All State showcase and flashed a sharp SL and hard CH. He'll be a big piece for a Rossview team that will be a year older after hanging around .500 last season. Clarksville will be the district favorite, but if it clicks for Rossview they could be a club that really pushes them for the title and work into the later rounds this postseason.

Hadley Maxwell RHP / Franklin Road Academy, TN / 2022

No. 72: Maxwell is a polished arm, who attacks the zone with his arsenal. He features a FB up to 87.5, sharp breaking ball, and solid changeup. He commands all three and can really execute while pitching with an aggressive edge. Great frame with physicality and shown high level spin data. FRA will be in a tough league, but they have an older group of prospects and are optimistic to be more competitive from start to finish in 2022.

Luke Dymond C / 1B / Stewarts Creek, TN / 2022

No. 71: Stewarts Creek made a run to sub-state before getting knocked off by McMinn County. They'll return a good chunk of that roster, especially regarding their deep lineup from last season. Dymond will hit in the middle of the order and manage the pitching staff. He's shown to be a very sound defender and gap power at the plate. The Redhawks will look to get back to the state tourney in 2022, and they should have the fire power to do so.
