The Tennessee Diamond Notes is back for 2025 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance. 

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Tennessee Diamond Notes.

TENNESSEE DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 1

Sean Birkofer OF / RHP / Providence Christian Academy, TN / 2026 Our top-ranked uncommitted '26 measured in at 6-0, 210-pounds at TN Preseason All-State. He misses fall baseball opportunities due to football and would probably be committed at this point if not so. We witnessed his HR this week Saturday, against Donelson Christian. He would finish with a .462 avg (6-14) 2 DB’s, 1 3B, 1 HR, 5 RBI’s in week 1.

Josiah Allen RHP / 1B / Providence Christian Academy, TN / 2026 Allen would go 5 innings, surrendering 3 hits with 2 ER, while collecting 9 K’s in a win over MTCS.

Ryan Edwards SS / RHP / Webb, TN / 2026  Edwards had a very stong week at the plate where he hit .600 avg, 1.861 OPS, 3 2B’s, 1 3B, 1 HR,  with 0 K's. He would also show his speed on the basepaths going 6/6 on Stolen bases, while scoring 14 runs.

Bryce Messer 2B / SS / Riverdale , TN / 2025  Messer had a great opening week going 10 for 16 with two 2B's, alongside 9 stolen bases. He would also have a knack for getting on base with 1 hbp, 3 walks. For the week he would score 9 times, while also knocking in 2 RBI's.

Hudson Burnett OF / RHP / Halls, TN / 2028  We have a lot of high hopes for Burnett, our 3rd raned player in the 2028 class of TN. He had a great opening week to start his high school career as he hit .500 with a .692 OBP and 2 HR’s. He would also collect 5 RBI’s, scoring 6 times with 1 stolen base.

Jonah Winton SS / 2B / Silverdale Baptist, TN / 2027  A recent move into Tennessee from Georgia, Winton is playing in his first year for Silverdale Baptist and had a strong start to his high school season going 7-for-11 with two doubles, a triple and a Home Run.

Carson Quillen C / SS / Greeneville High School, TN / 2025 Quillen starts strong to his senior season where he opened his first week with going 6-10 (2B, 3B ), .789 OBP, 2RBI, 9R, 8BB, 12SB's. Pitching: 1-0, 6IP, 2H, 11K's, 0ERA, 0BB

Will Harmon LHP / 1B / Greeneville High School, TN / 2026 Our state Pitcher of the Week also perfromed strongly on the offensive side going 7-16 (2B), 8RBI, 3R, 2BB, 3SB's.

Case Stone SS / C / McNairy Central, TN / 2026  Stone would open up well for McNairy Central where he would go 6-8 at the plate with 1 triple, 3 runs, 2 SB.

Kole Carter C / 3B / Cumberland Gap, TN / 2028  Carter had a strong perfromance on the bump to open his varsity career at the high school level. He would collect his first high school win going 1-0 with 6 IP, giving up 3H, 2ER, 2BB with 12 K's.

Bowen Combs OF / Meigs County High School, TN / 2027  Combs went 7-15 with a .467 BA,1 HR. 7 Run scored. He was also 5-5 on stolen bases. On the pitching side, he would collect the win in his outing, going 3.0 innings with 9 K’s without giving up a run.

Case Rickman RHP / McNairy Central, TN / 2027  Rickman collected his opening start win going 5 innings and giving up zero runs with 2 hits, 1 BB and 10 K's.

Hunter Gibson OF / Cumberland Gap, TN / 2026 The junior prospect went 3 for 9 to open his season collecting 1 RBI with 1 walk.
