The Tennessee Diamond Notes is back for 2025 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance. 

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Tennessee Diamond Notes.

TENNESSEE DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 3

Lance Bryan RHP / 3B / Briarcrest Christian, TN / 2025 Pitching against Morton, IL, he would go 6 innings giving up only 3 hits and 1 ER, while collecting 13 K’s to 0 BB’s. He would finish with 78 pitches, with 58 pitches for strikes facing 21 hitters.

Jax Sparks SS / RHP / Hardin Valley Academy, TN / 2026 had a great week at the plate batting in the top half of the order against quality teams that included top-10 matchups with Baylor School and Farragut. He would finish the week with a .539 batting average, .625 OBP, .769 SLG with 1 double, 1 triple with 3 RBI’s.

Tyler Sowards OF / RHP / Hardin Valley Academy, TN / 2026 had a great week at the plate batting in the top half of the order against quality teams that included top-10 matchups with Baylor School and Farragut. He would finish with week with a .462 batting average, .562 OBP, while hitting 2 doubles, batting 5 runs in and scoring 4 runs himself. He would also show off the wheels with 7 stolen bases.

Bowen Combs OF / RHP / Meigs County High School, TN / 2027 had another stellar week at the plate going 9-13 with a final batting average stat line of .692 batting average. He would show the slugging ability hitting 4 doubles, 2 triples with 7 RBI’s, while also stealing 3 bags and getting on base 3 times from hit-by-pitches. He is currently batting .600 on the season going 21 for 35 with a .651 OBP, 1.029 SLG with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 12 RBI’s, while showing impressive elusiveness going 10 for 10 on stolen bases.

Michael Teasley 3B / RHP / Oak Ridge High School, TN / 2026 The Tennessee commit batted .562 on the week that included 2 RBls, 2 HR’s, 3 SB, and 9 runs scored. Teasley would also throw a complete game shutout with 11K’s, scattering 2 hits in 7 innings.

Cy Stephens LHP / OF / Oak Ridge, TN / 2025 The Walters State signee had a great week pitching throwing a complete game with only 1 earned run with 6 K’s.

Warren East OF / RHP / Oak Ridge, TN / 2027 had another great week at the plate finishing with a .500 batting average that included 3 3B’s, 7 Runs, and 7 stolen bases.

Parker Free / , TN / 2027 batted .471 on the week with 8 hits, 11 RBI’s, 2 RBI’s, 1 3B, and 1 HR in the top half of the lineup.

Alex Bedford OF / 1B / Lawrence County High School , TN / 2025 finished Week 3 at Gulf Coast Classic, where his team went 4-1 with a semi-finals berth. The Tennessee signee would finish with a .625 batting average that included 10 hits, 3 doubles and 1 triple, while also batting 11 runs in. He would rack up 19 plate appearances in total without striking out, while drawing 3 walks. He would also go a perfect 4 for 4 on stolen bases.

Kole Carter C / 3B / Cumberland Gap, TN / 2028 hitting in the 3 hole, would go 4-6 on the week with 3 RBI’s, 2 runs scored, 2BBs and 1 triple.

Sean Birkofer OF / RHP / Providence Christian Academy, TN / 2026 hit .357 on the week with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 1 HR with 5 RBI’s on the week.

Matok Delk SS / PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, TN / 2027 gets his first Diamond Notes spotlight on the season where he went complete game shutout inducing 5 hits with 8 K’s.

Josiah Allen RHP / 1B / Providence Christian Academy, TN / 2026 had another great week on the mound finishing with 9 K’s over 6 innings pitches, surrendering only 3 hits with 2 runs.

Preston Sumner SS / RHP / Collierville, TN / 2027 had another great week at the plate for the current number 1 team in the state where he finished the week with a .500 batting average that included 2 doubles and 7 RBI’s. He would collect 2 hits against ranked South Gibson on Friday night leading to the winning run in a close 2-1 contest. On Saturday, he would go 2 for 2 against Oxford (AL) with 2 doubles and 5 RBI’s. On the season he is batting .469 with a .561 OBP, 1.373 OPS, .812 SLG with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 HR’s and 17 RBI’s.

Baylan Tuten LHP / OF / Tullahoma , TN / 2025 has gotten off to an impressive senior campaign and carried it over in his win against a district opponent where he fired his first No-Hitter on the season, finishing with 15 K’s with 1 BB over 7 innings. Fastball held life in the mid to upper 80’s from the left-side with a three pitch mix.

Trey Finch RHP / Providence Christian, TN / 2025 gets his first nomination for player of the week where he finished his outing with 3 K’s over 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 1 ER.

Peyton Witter 1B / LHP / Kingston, TN / 2025 finished the week with a .500 batting average that included 1 HR, 5 RBI’s, and 5 runs scored.

Kamden Welch 1B / LHP / Oak Ridge , TN / 2026 Welch had another great week on the mound throwing a complete game shutout, allowing 1 hit with 3 K’s and 2 BB’s. He has now thrown 11 innings without allowing a run to score.

Colby Comparato 2B / 3B / Halls, TN / 2026 Batted .571 on the week with a .727 OBP that included 2 doubles, 1 triple and 2 stolen bases.

Eli Reed / Cumberland Gap, TN / 2027 has been solid on the mound all season and was again this week where he threw 5 innings, allowing 3 ER, while striking out 7 batters.

Casen Youngblood 1B / 3B / Providence Christian Academy, TN / 2025 hit .385 on the week with 2 doubles, 4 RBI’s with 6 walks.

Logan Mays / Lawrence Co High School, TN / 2027 took a perfect game into his last out against Tushka HS (Oklahoma) where he surrendered his only hit on the night facing the last guy to secure the perfect game. He would finish with 10 K’s without allowing a walk sitting 84-86 on the fastball.
