Daily Roundup: March 9 Games

It was the much anticipated Opening Day for the 2015 high school baseball season last evening as teams from all around the Volunteer State kicked off their respective seasons. Below is a look at some of the scores and highlights from the action around the state last evening.

Morristown West 1, Jefferson County 0

Junior LHP Will Heflin had 10 strikeouts to lead the Trojans over Jefferson County in a big district matchup. Jacob Jennings went 2 for 2 at the plate to lead the Trojans on offense.

Jackson Christian School 5, Ripley 4

In a very close game that went down to the last inning , Jackson Christian School pulled out the win. Webster got the win on the mound for Jackson Christian School.

Upperman 10, Warren County 1

Winston Cannon went 3 for 3 with a double to lead the Upperman offensive attack. Lafever got the win on the mound with 8 strikeouts.

West 6, Lenior City 1

Cupp went 3 for 3 at the plate for the rebels, followed by Thomas and Skuara who had a double and a triple for West.

Clay County 5, Red Boiling Springs  4

Zach Grace picked up the win on the mound for Clay County with 3 strikeouts and only allowing 3 hits. Grace also went 2 for 4 at the plate with a double to lead Clay County to the win.

Northeast 12, Montgomery Central 2

Clay Longo had 7 strikeouts to pick up the win on the mound for the Eagles. Canan Tucker went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Jaxon Minor went 2 for 2 with a double as well in the Eagles win.

Midway 6, Rockwood 2

Zack Edwards 15 strikeout performance led Midway to a 6-2 win. Hayden Hester carried the offensive load for Midway going 2 for 4 with a double and a home run.

Spring Hill 5, Sycamore 3

Zach King’s 10 strikeout performance helped lead Spring Hill to a 5-3 win over Sycamore HS. Offensively, Warwick went 2 for 2 to lead Spring Hill on offense.

Hixson 7, Red Bank 1

Tanner Moylan had a strong night on the mound for Hixson with 18 strikeouts and the win. Cabe Davis went 2 for 4 with a double and Brandon Carver went 2 for 3 with two doubles to lead Red Bank offensively.

Carthage 14, Gordonsville 5

Seth Hackett went 2 for 5 with a double to lead Carthage offensively followed by multiple Carthage players producing hits. Tyler Branham got the win on the mound with 3 strikeouts in 4 innings pitched.

Carthage 9, Gordonsville 5

Ethan Hackett went 2 for 2 followed by Seth Hackett’s double to lead Carthage to a win. Logan Fields picked up the win with 4 strikeouts.

Jackson Christian 4, Hardin County 3

In a very close matchup Jackson Christian pulls away with the win. Rice went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s, followed by Parker who went 3 for 4 with a double. Holt got the win on the mound with 3 strikeouts.

Bradley Central 6, Ooltewah 3

Ty King’s two strikeouts were enough to get the win for the Bears. King also went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and a RBI. Hamilton had a double as well.

Memphis University 11, Hillcrest 10

Preston White went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI’s . Will Buser and Thomas Pickens both had doubles as well. Cole Adams picked up the win with 3 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched.

Bolivar Central 5, Huntington 4

Trae Hobbs went 2 for 3 and Trey Lowe went 1 for 3 with a home run. Ian Clark got the win on the mound with 5 strikeouts.

Upperman 4, Warren County 0

Winston Cannon’s 8 strikeout performance was all Upperman needed to get the win over Warren County. Ryan Lafever and Triston Allison both went 2 for 2 with Lafever getting a double.

Memphis University 11, Hatley 1

Will Buser was 3 for 3 and Carter Mcferrin was 2 for 2 with a double in the owls win. Preston White got the win with two strikeouts.

Gibbs 12, Campbell County 0

Hall went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles for the eagles, and Mckee went 1 for 3 with a home run to lead Gibbs past Campbell County. Noe got the win on the mound with four strikeouts.

Happy Valley 12, Johnson County 0

Ian Scruggs went 3 for 3 and Tyler Hurley went 2 for 2, each with a double. Hunter Townsend had 9 strikeouts and got the win for Happy Valley.

Farragut 5, Heritage 0

Duncan Pence went 2 for 4 and Jake Hagenow went 2 for 3 to lead Farragut past Heritage. Dylan Pacifico had 6 strikeouts and got the win for the Admirals.

Clinton 6, Central 4

Jared Ruan had a huge night for the Dragons going 4 for 4 with a double, followed by Riley Miller’s 1 for 2 performance with a double. Lance Hamilton got the win for the dragons and had 6 strikeouts.

Franklin 10, Summit 4

Logan Jarvis went 2 for 4 with a home run and Preston Mathis went 2 for 3 with a double to lead the Franklin offensive attack. Matt Hargreaves had seven strikeouts in the win for Franklin.

Gatlinburg Pittman 15, Cosby 1

Zack Akey had a huge night for the Highlanders. Akey went 2 for 3 with two doubles and Drew Fugate went 2 for 2 with a triple to lead the Highlanders past Cosby. Zac Akey had nine strikeouts and got the win for the Highlanders.

Grainger 11, West Greene 0

Bates had a huge night for Grainger County with 10 strikeouts and the win. Offensively, Stalsworth  went 2 for 4 with two doubles and Saley went 2 for 3 to lead the Grizzles past West Greene.

Centennial 6, Independence 3

Jake Lyle went 2 for 3 with two doubles and Deon Sanders went 1 for 1 with a double to lead Centennial past Independence. Hooper Mills picked up the win and had 3 strikeouts on the night.

Antioch 11, Hunters Lane 9

Amir Williams went 3 for 4 with a triple and Carson Robertson went 2 for 2 to lead Antioch past Hunters Lane. Carson Robertson got the win on the mound for the Bears.

Chattanooga Christian 3, Boyd Buchanan 2

Taylor and Wheeler both went 2 for 3 with Wheeler’s triple to lead Chattanooga Christian over Boyd Buchanan. Elsea got the win on the mound for Chattanooga Christian in a hard fought game.

Grace Christian 14, Greenback 0

Shaw went 3 for 4 with a triple and 4 RBIs and Henley went 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs to lead Grace to the win. Shaw also picked up the win on the mound racking up 7 strikeouts in 3 innings of work.

CAK 10, Webb 5

John Sharpe collected 2 hits and drove in 3 runs while Trey Hinton worked 3.1 strong innings and Connor Love worked the final 3.2 innings to keep the Webb offense at bay.
