Future Games: Pitcher Reports

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On August 1st through the 4th, the team of some of the best uncommitted 2020's in the state competed.  This began with an evaluation day on the 1st day before playing 3 games.  Tennessee ended up going 1-2 for the event.  Video within this story is all game strikes.  Pitchers are sorted by avg FB velocity.  Read up on every pitcher below:

BRADY CHAPPELL / RHP / 1B / LEBANON, TN / 2020

Max FB: 87, Avg FB: 85.72, FB (84-87), CB (70), CH (75-78)

6-3, 200-pounder filled the zone on this day w/ feel for command and locating down in the zone, allowing him to generate 2 swing and misses on 11 swings and needing just 24 pitches to fire two scoreless innings.  Prototypical pitcher frame w/ present lower half strength and projectable, has just scratched the surface of his frame potential.  Pitches from a full wind-up into over the top to 3/4 release from the middle of the rubber.  Elite arm-speed, just scratching the velocity potential within himself.   High effort throw w/ some head violence.  Occasional downhill plane, angle.  Classic drop and drive delivery, learning to repeat the same release point.  FB shows occasional short cut, ride through the zone.  Medium downer CB wasn’t as tight as it was in June, showed proper shape and rotation w/ occasional late bite.  CH w/ arm-speed, fade and sink.  Pounded the lower half of the strike zone, commanded his stuff (16 of 24 for strikes).  Projects to command.
