Dylan Carmon C / Giles County, TN / 2019

C showed intriguing all-around skillset.  Medium, athletic frame w/ lean strength, some physical projection.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ hand rhythm into shift of weight, stride and load.  Flashes bat speed through the zone.  Keeps hands back well, able to adjust to off-speed stuff.  Defensively, handled 3 collegiate level pitchers who all pitch differently, including one w/ premium stuff.  As a thrower, shows good feet w/ arm strength to target.  Popped 2.13 between innings.  

Bryce Gibson 2B / SS / Giles County, TN / 2018

Uncommitted SS showed above average hands, body control defensively.  Medium, athletic frame w/ lean strength, some physical projection.  Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, slightly crouched stance into shift of weight w/ stride.  Pre-loaded hands.  Proper bat path w/ natural loft.  Stood out for his hands in both I/O and in game.  Hands and feet work well together, soft hands.  Good first step defensively.  Arm strength w/ carry to target.  Chance to stay at SS in college, but projects as above average defensive 2Bmen.    

Tucker Duke RHP / Giles County, TN / 2018

FB (76-78), SL (68-71)

Huntingdon commit showed low slot w/ feel for the strike zone.  Short, athletic frame w/ some physical projection, some present strength.  Pitches from the stretch only w/ side-arm to occasional over the top release.  Repeats.  FB is straight, shows occasional cut.  Relies on deception for swing and misses on FB.  Short ¾ tilt SL.  Around the zone, flashes ability to pitch w/ intent.

Blade Matthews RHP / Giles County, TN / 2018

FB (83-86), SL (71-75), CH (74-75)

Columbia State commit worked an efficient 2 innings, striking out 5.  Medium, athletic frame w/ some lower half present strength, projection.  Pitches from a full wind-up w/ ¾ release.  Well-tempoed w/ proper finish.  FB shows occasional arm-side run.  SL flashes above average w/ proper ¾ tilt, depth.  Mixed in straight CH.  Around the zone, flashes ability to pitch w/ intent.  Pitcher w/ idea of how to use his 3 pitches to affect a hitter’s timing. 

Ben Peoples RHP / 1B / Giles County, TN / 2019

FB (87-89, T90), CB (71)

Border Battle participant showed improved command w/ super quick arm, highlighted by a 2-tick velocity increase since the fall.   Medium, athletic frame hasn’t approached his frame potential yet, some present strength.  Pitches from a full wind-up w/ over the top release.  Better control of the timing in his delivery since the fall w/ super quick arm.  FB shows ride through the zone, gets another gear halfway to the plate.  Occasional cut.  Threw one CB, featured above average rotation/depth.  Threw a lot of strikes this outing, projects to control. 

Lawrence Sutton OF / SS / Lawrence County, TN / 2020

Border Battle participant continues his upward trajectory, picking up a double and finding a barrel in every at bat.  Medium, athletic frame w/ present strength, some physical projection.  Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, straight up stance w/ hand rhythm into proper stride and load.  Big bat speed through the zone w/ natural loft.  Feel for barrel.  Pull power w/ projectable all fields power.  Projects to hit for average and power.  Above average runner underway.  Defensively, played third and second base on this day.  Shows soft hands w/ good feet, arm strength w/ carry to target.  Keeps improving in every phase every time we see him.
