McCallie's Ethan Cady Showing Power Surge

At 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, McCallie’s Ethan Cady impressed with his power potential at both the Fall Top Prospect Games on November 1 and the East Tennessee Prospect Showcase in January. The left-handed hitting first baseman gets good involvement from his strong lower half, and his swing path generates natural lift. To say Cady’s power numbers thus far this spring have been impressive would be an understatement.

Through nine games, Cady is hitting .440 (11-for-25). With five doubles and three home runs, eight of his 11 hits have gone for extra bases, and Cady has also been coming through with runners on base, having racked up 11 RBI.

We expected Cady to show his power this spring, but the numbers he has put up thus far have exceeded any reasonable expectations. He is developing nicely as one of the top left-handed power bats in Tennessee’s 2016 class.

The Blue Tornado are back in action this Friday as they have a three-game home series with JP II in what should be a very competitive weekend of baseball.
