If you’re looking for a catcher with tools and big potential, you may want to make a stop at a Knoxville Central High School baseball game this spring. Arm strength, size, and power potential is what junior catcher Jackson Greer brings to the table.

At 6-foot-3 ,195-pounds, Greer has a strong and athletic frame, and he impressed both defensively and offensively at the Preseason All State Showcase.

During Defensive drills, Greer had the best pop time of the day. Greer’s pop time range was a 1.84-1.94, and he showed good arm strength from behind the plate at 78 mph. Greer showed good lateral movement and blocking skills during his performance. He has quick instincts and receives the ball well. With continued development, Greer has a chance to be a high-level catcher, not just at the high school level but the college level as well.

Offensively, Greer showed good bat speed with power potential. He is a gap to gap type hitter with occasional pull tendencies. Greer had an 85 mph exit velocity off the tee. While he still has some development to go through offensively, he certainly has the potential to be a good hitter; one that could eventually be a consistent power threat.

Look for Greer to have a successful spring this year for the Bobcats.
