Anthony Crowder, SS/RHP, Knoxville Christian

At 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, Crowder showed he has a skill set that should give him serious consideration at the next level.

Crowder shows solid defensive skills with good lateral movement.  He can use multiple arm angles along with a quick, clean exchange to produce accurate throws to the bag with some line carry. Crowder's top velocity registered at 73 mph and should continue to improve with strength gains. He made an impressive diving catch in the hole to throw a runner out at first base in game play at the Fall Top Prospect Games Event on November 1 at Lipscomb University.

At the plate, Crowder uses a slightly open stance with a short, toe-tap stride and maintains good balance throughout his swing.  He is a line drive type hitter with a level swing path and gap to gap approach who makes  solid contact consistently with good extension through the baseball.  In addition, Crowder showed some bat speed in recording an exit velocity off the tee of 82 mph.  He continued to hit well in game play at the Fall Top Prospect Games going 2-for-3 with two hard hit singles while also posting a 4.62 home to first base time.

On the mound, Crowder shows good command with a fastball that sat 76-78 mph.   His curveball varied between 12/6 and 11/5 action and is thrown with good arm speed.   He showed the ability to keep the ball down and consistently work the bottom part of the zone.

With his size and tools, Crowder should find himself with opportunities to play at the next level but will need to focus on improving arm strength to stay at the SS position.  He should be a major contributor to the Knoxville Christian baseball program in 2015.
