The 2022 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our preseason Top 10 in each TSSAA classification and the preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Our team will be providing boots on the ground coverage, scouting games and highlighting the Volunteer State's talent. This season we will be releasing players of the week, updating our classification rankings, and the Power 25. Feel free to give us a follow on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on all the latest baseball news.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook

The Cannon County Lions looks some lumps early in 2021, but were more competitive down the stretch. They'll return a vast majority of their club with another offseason under their belts, including their top two arms and seven of their nine top hitters. Sr. LHP/CF Braxten Alexander (Vol State Commit) returns for his final high school campaign as he'll lead the pitching staff and roam the outfield. Soph. RHP/SS AJ Armstrong got some crucial time in his freshman campaign while leading the team in batting average and wins. He's a versatile athlete, as a 6.92 runner who can play all over the field and provide some juice at the plate. Jr. Gaige Turner will be Armstrong's counterpart up the middle, and can provide some depth on the mound.

They'll remain in the newly shaped 2A, but will be facing some familiar faces in a much more compact district. The Lions will be competing with '21 state tourney participant Watertown and Smith County plus a fresh face in Westmoreland. Their squad has another year under their belts and will look to cut down on walks and errors to get back to the region for the first time since 2019.
