The 2022 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our preseason Top 10 in each TSSAA classification and the preseason Power 25 Rankings. 

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Our team will be providing boots on the ground coverage, scouting games and highlighting the Volunteer State's talent. This season we will be releasing players of the week, updating our classification rankings, and the Power 25. Team Outlook
East Robertson went 30-7 last year including a 10-0 run (outscoring opponents 64-5) to capture the 1A state championship. They lost their big arm in RHP Peyton Smith + two-way Van True among others from that team. However, their playoff run proved they had a lot of depth on the mound and that should be the case this year. Leading the pack will be senior arms Dylan Stroud and Peyton Clinton, who combined for 14 wins a year ago. Jr LHP Austin Jones could be another key upperclassmen piece on the mound, and Soph LHP Matthew Swearingen will give the Indians another southpaw option. Soph CINF Wyatt Pearson was an everyday player as a freshman, and he’ll look to build off that resume. The Indians will have a quartet of freshmen to plug into this reigning champ roster. OF/C Miller Cothron played everyday down the stretch as an 8th grader, so he’s ahead with some varsity experience. SS/RHP Gavin True will likely plug a hole that his brother occupied last year, hitting towards the top of the order and giving pitching depth. RHP/CINF Breyer Williams and MINF/RHP Mac Luckett should be another pair of freshmen to be in the mix. 

The Indians are the defending champs and expect to be one of the top 1A clubs this year, but the influx of youth getting into the mix doesn’t always make it so clear cut. There will be some growing pains, but you have to like the chances of a team with two proven arms in a three team district (+ Jo Byrns and Trousdale County). With only 6 district games, it will have to be a tight race for first, but East Robertson has the chance to find themselves back in the Boro for May.
