The 2022 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our preseason Top 10 in each TSSAA classification and the preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Our team will be providing boots on the ground coverage, scouting games and highlighting the Volunteer State's talent. This season we will be releasing players of the week, updating our classification rankings, and the Power 25. Feel free to give us a follow on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on all the latest baseball news.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook
Gordonsville has been a consistent contender in the single A with multiple state tournaments over the past five years. The Tigers put together a strong campaign last season, winning the district tourney and advancing to sub state. Unfortunately, they fell to eventual state runner up Moore County. The Tigers are optimistic to get over the hump and back to the state tournament for the first time since 2018. They return a vast majority of their top end arms including Sr. C/RHP Brant Turner, who took home district pitcher of the year honors. Turner has shown to be an offensive producer and flashed arm strength behind the dish while headlining the staff. Seniors Treyson Davis (OF/P) and Austin Ducrest (UTL/P) will round out the veteran presence. Davis missed a good chunk of last season, but will look to return to form while Ducrest will be a two-way contributor. 2023 Peyton Climer will slide over from 2B to SS, so they should be strong up the middle defensively. P/UTL Kyle Adams (2024) emerged as one of the top arms last year, tossing 41 innings in his freshman campaign. 2024s 3B/RHP Sam Albritton and OF Canaan Musgrove contributed part time last year, and they’ll have an expanded role this season as an everyday player.

They have a strong core with a plethora of arms to utilize, but they'll need to plug some holes in offensive production from last year. The Tigers remain in the same district, so there will be familiarity with their foes (Clarkrange, Clay Co, Pickett Co, and Red Boiling). Gordonsville should be the front runners as their biggest competitors from the last few years have transitioned out under the new alignment (Monterey + Jackson Co -> 2A; Trousdale to district 8). Gordonsville will look to make some noise and be playing in the Boro in late May.
