The 2022 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our preseason Top 10 in each TSSAA classification and the preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Our team will be providing boots on the ground coverage, scouting games and highlighting the Volunteer State's talent. This season we will be releasing players of the week, updating our classification rankings, and the Power 25. Feel free to give us a follow on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on all the latest baseball news.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook
The Hornets posted a strong resume in 2021, finishing 27-7 with a sub state appearance. They finished third in a very competitive 13AA district, but captured the district tourney crown then swept the region games before getting edged by Covington 5-4 to end the season. They lost a few pieces from the club, but they return some key components as they transition to AAA this year. I’d expect RHP Jack Brafa (2023; Uncommitted) to headline the pitching staff with the ability to work into the upper 80s and pound the zone with three pitches. The senior trio of RHP/CINF Connell Hardin, OF/LHP Bryson Robbins, and 1B/RHP Turner Murchison will provide veteran presence, depth on the mound, and keys positionally. The Hornets will have an influx of young players that could provide some depth and work into the mix. Freshman trio of OF/RHP Jack Bradberry, OF/MINF Tatum Crosser, and 3B/RHP Gage Nesbitt could be getting their feet in their rookie campaigns.

The Hornets move up in class, but they will be in a compact four team district with all new foes (Jackson Southside, Jackson Northside, and Liberty Tech). Based off last year, the Hornets should be the favorites with potential to matchup with AAA state runner up Hardin County in regions. This was a fun club to follow last season, who played great baseball in the postseason, so expectations are high in Medina this Spring.
