The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

Coming off a sub state finish to go along with a (21-19) overall record in 2022, head coach Josh Boynton and the Anderson County Mavericks are looking further down the road this upcoming spring season. Returning just three positional starters and five arms on the mound in 2023, the Mavericks still have high expectations this spring.

Some key returning players that will be contributors to the Mavericks this spring include a core group of sophomores and juniors. 2024 INF/RHP Aydin Bond, 2024 UTL Lane Fletcher, 2025 INF/RHP Alex Bond, 2025 C Ty Wilson, 2025 OF Trent Strickland. Other prospects in the 2024 class include, OF/P McCauley White, INF/P Morgan Clark, INF/P Gavin Hill, and OF/LHP Luke Lankford.

Underclassmen who look to step up and make an impact this spring for Anderson County are, 2025 INF Reece Wilkerson, 2026 INF/P Daniel Unthank and 2026 UTL Wil Ridenour.

With a quality core of sophomore and juniors and a lack of seniors in this group, the Mavericks will have to have a hand full of guys step up and be leaders amongst this group, but expect them to be right in the thick of things this spring in Region 2.
