The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Blaze were right in the thick of the competitive district seven last year, but they slipped up in the district tourney to finish the year 17-15. Unfortunately, they lost a sizable chunk of their starters and will be a very young group in 2023. ‘24 1B Dylan Dapolito is a big body lefty bat that can thump in the meat of the order. ‘23 INF Jose Marcano is a veteran switch hitter and can play both spots on the left side of the infield. ‘24 3B/RHP Cooper Stephens will pair with Marcano on the left side and provide some depth on the mound. On the mound, ‘24 RHP Carter Gregory will headline the staff and be a very solid starter. ‘23 LHP Tristan Seputis (Bethel) and ‘24 RHP Joe Morera will be in the starting mix as they both have good feel to mix pitches and pound the zone while ‘23 RHP Nick Trigg can provide some veteran depth. ‘23 C Jesus Mejia and ‘25 C Kenneth Colon expect to pair behind the plate and Colon is another switch hitting bat in the lineup. ‘26 OF/LHP Andrew Monson will be a freshman to watch as he can plug into the outfield or contribute on the mound. The district will be an uphill battle for the Blaze as they’ll take some lumps with a young group, but as we’ve seen in the past you can’t count anyone out in 7AAAA.
