The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

Team Outlook:

The Eagles had a down year in 2022 after coming off a state tournament appearance in 2021. They did still reach the Middle Regional and pushed Lipscomb Academy to three games, but ultimately were eliminated to finish 10-18. They’ll have a veteran heavy group plus maturity on the mound, which should help them compete in the middle region. ‘23 RHP William McCoy is back after an all-region season and will be a leader for the staff. ‘24 LHP/OF Dominic Monaco has been trending the right way and will be a steady contributor as a two-way and a lefty bat in the lineup. ‘24 LHP Hayden Stranak and ‘24 RHP Ty Brinkmann have been consistent contributors over the past few seasons and figures heavily into the pitching rotation. ‘24 SS Cameron Greene and ‘23 2B Jack Ward will anchor the middle of the infield and both hit from the left side. ‘24 3B Hudson Susano missed some time last year, but has shown strong tools and thump at the plate. ‘23 C Aslan Hullett has a chance to step into the catcher role and is another lefty bat that can swing it while managing the staff. ‘23 OF Nikolas Marino will roam the outfield and be the veteran presence for that position group. Couple of young prospects to watch will be ‘26 LHP Joey Ansell, who showed a lot of upside and stuff in his arsenal, and ‘26 MINF Will Rooney. This might be an overlooked team, but it gives me a lot of 2022 MBA vibes with a veteran lineup, stacked up with lefty bats. This should cause some matchup issues and I expect a much more competitive showing this Spring to compete in the Middle region.
