The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Hawks turned in their first winning season (17-13) in year number two of the program and they’ll look to continue to grow and push in district nine. Last season, they took Lebanon to game three in the district tourney series and will have to compete with Lebanon and Mt. Juliet again this year. The headliner is ‘23 SS Christian Taylor (Air Force), who is an outstanding shortstop defensively and can wreck havoc on the base paths. ‘23 2B Tate Riley and ‘24 CINF Griggs Chandler return on the infield, which should give them a very steady group with experience. ‘23 C Adam Partin is a very sound defender behind the plate and can be run producer in the lineup. One the mound, ‘24 LHP Micah Summar returns in the ace role and will need another strong year to help the Hawks. ‘25 LHP Corbin Craver is a young southpaw that expects to step into the no. 2 role behind Summar. Pitching depth could be a problem in their district, but they’ll have some speed to take opposing pitchers out of their game. They’ll have a couple of younger pieces who could figure into the mix, so that will be something to keep eyes on as the season unfolds. District 9 is a tall task for any team, but the Hawks are hopeful to take another step in year three.
