The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Patriots were a really fun group to watch last year as they made a run to sub-state before getting knocked out by Collierville. It was a sluggish start, but they played very well down the stretch while sweeping the district slate and finishing 21-14. They did lose a significant chunk of their roster and will have to replace some pitching depth. ‘23 CINF/RHP Hudson Cepparulo will be the number one on the mound and figures to hit in the middle of the order with some thump from the left side. ‘24 RHP/UTL Truitt Webb figures to slot as the two arm and may just be scratching the surface of his potential. ‘25 UTL Ashton Kemp played all over the field last Spring and can really handle the stick from the left side while also providing pitching depth. ‘24 OF Carter Hedges is another upperclassmen and lefty bat that is one to watch. After that, it will be a ton of youth infused into the Henry County roster such as: ‘25 OF Martez Rack, ‘25 RHP Logan Davidson, ‘25 1B Chase Cameron, ‘25 RHP Jack Todd, ‘26 C Brock Archie, ‘26 RHP/UTL Turner McSwain, and ‘26 LHP Evan Flood. They may have some growing pains early, but a lefty heavy lineup can always cause some issues for the opposition. District 14 is very condense (four teams), so it will most likely be a battle with Dickson County to advance into region play.
